Description
Hallo .
We are a non profit friendship organisation were all of us work for room and board . So if you are interesed in historic places and old cuture you will love it here.
The road down is winterclosed . We try to open around 20.05
We are 45min.from closest shops and senter with cafeteria and trying to take care of our historic place o take care of an old 9 blad upgoing saw from year 1620 and old buildings. Main house from 1862 which contains a museum and 3 bedrooms for overnight guests to rent . We also have a mill from 1900.
Our place is located almost at the end of Sognefjorden (210 km long) outside of Årdalstangen. We can offer beautiful nature and tranquility for the mind at our remote location.
. In the old boathouse there are 3 bedrooms (2 double,1 family) and a nice caffeteria with mostly serving coffie and waffel l(unch or dinner by apointment) available for visitors to enjoy. In addition to welcoming our guests, we need help taking care of the property and guiding guests around.
You have to go through the worlds steepest tunnel to get here, 15-17 % at the steapest! The most beautiful nature is waiting for you and the drive down to the fjord is spectacular. It takes you about 40 min from Aardalstangen.
For your benefit and ours we like you to stay a mimimum of 3-4 weeks. Hopefully you will be interested in learning about us and this beautiful pearl by the fjord.
We all work for room and board, keeping a nice main house , and enjoy each others company.
It is a pluss if you speak/understand norwegian . Becouse of the covid 19 we will have mostly norwegian guests and to give good service in our beutyful spesial place you will have to tell/ now some of the long history . 👍🤗 .

You will learn about old culture in Norway compered with yours, stay in the most beutiful nature along the fjord with nice intresting people, and hopefully find a long time friendship. We are all volunteers here.

Nice bedroom in main house with beutiful view over the fjord .WC Cosy familyroom with TV . Modern showers down in boathouse .(10meter from main house ) and you can swim in the fjord ,about 14'C .

We hope you enjoy beeng outdoor in free time , hiking and fishing.and also kayaking. In one hours drive you can enter the valley of Utladalen and then hike to Vetti and the beutiful waterfall Vettifossen, N. Europ's highest free fall waterfall at 273 m. Then go on to Jotunheimen with the highest moutains in Norway .and glasciers .
Ofredal is a valley with only about 15 persons living all year. We only stay from easter until the snow comes, most of the time doing maintenance work. Official opening for the season is 20th of June. There are a lot of deer in the valley and also about 200 sheep (we dont have any). The 23rd of June Norway celebrates midsummer with music, dancing, and bonfire if the weather permits . We have our own car so we can pick you up and bring you to town .
