Astrid's farm is a dream place to spend the summer. Hiking around the farm is spectacular anywhere you go, there are lakes, glaciers, waterfalls and sheep! The other volunteers in the farm were very friendly, we played ping pong, beach volleyball, went hiking, swam in the lake and waterfall, make bonfires and watch movies together. My favorite

Work days are relaxed, after having morning porridge for breakfast work hours (~5hrs) passed by quickly witch left us plenty of free time in the evenings after lunch. Astrid is a wonderful host, she is easygoing and always grateful for the work we do. She finds ways for us to get to know the people in the village and makes Skarstein (the farm) feel like a home away from home.
Thank you Astrid and Frøydis for this 3 amazing weeks at Skarstein, looking forward to visit again sometime.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

What a beautiful human experience 🥰 My stay with Astrid was short (just 10 days) but I had the chance to share amazing moments with her and the wonderful team of volunteers. Every morning, we meet at the barn (volunteers house) for breakfast with Astrid and plan for the day: taking care of the garden, going in the mountain to find some moss,

Lunch break is around 2pm and then free afternoon to enjoy the view, to go hiking in the valley or to explore around. At the end of the day, we enjoy a lovely diner prepared with love and share our adventures with our favorite Norwegian grandma 😊
The volunteers house is a charming old farm, with a lot of rooms, a big living room with a fire place with an old TV, DVD player, some speakers and thanks to Tom, volunteer from London and genious sound technician, you can now plug your laptop and fully enjoy a movie night with the team. Or go to the basement to play ping-pong! Or go on a walk with Tingeling, the mascott of the farm 🐶
Astrid just turned 80 yo this spring, and she's an energetic grandma full of stories, happy to share her knowledge with you. She's a real force of nature, working with us in the garden, showing us how to take care of the plants, etc. Thank yoou again for all your precious advices! I'll definitly be back sometime to see Astrid's famous "Moss Garden" finished and give her a big hug 🥰

Preface: I was NOT working at the farm. Rather, Astrid asked me to help out with a digital project in Oslo for a few days in January 2024.
Astrid is such an amazing lady! Very capable, lively, and kind. She seems to build a lovely community wherever she is. Very welcoming to her nice home in Oslo. The accommodation was nice, and Astrid is a good

The work was straightforward, although it took some time because she has so many photos. She was flexible with the schedule, and I had time to go ski and see some of the city.
Mostly, Astrid is looking for volunteers to help at the farm. I think it's really popular and she gets a lot of requests. Even though I haven't been there, I think I can understand why. It sounds like paradise when she talks about it. It's located in a beautiful Norwegian valley with opportunities for recreation. There are ~20 travelers at any time, having fun together, getting lots of work done, creating a small family.
Best wishes with your big birthday festival reunion this Summer, Astrid!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I spent two weeks with Astrid during the month of November. An incredible experience, in a lovely place and with delicious food. Possibility of fishing, walking in the mountains of Kandal and enjoying Norway. Highly recommended!

Astrid always said that life is about collecting experiences. The stay on her farm was one of those experiences you’ll probably won’t forget for a long time. I stayed for nearly four weeks in Mai 2023.
From the start on Astrid was extremely helpful and welcoming, quickly introducing me into the routines on her farm. Her food was outstandingly
… read more good, always made of local ingredients. And the conversation and talking while eating were awesome too, Astrid knows a lot of interesting and funny stories.
Now to the work: there were so many different projects on her farm that I never got bored and we could often chose freely what we wanted to do. From building fences and a pig house, building steps and ditches, renovating parts of the barn, to simply do gardening and weeding, there was something for everyone. Everyday you could finish work and feeling that you’ve accomplished something.
In our free time we could go for hikes in the beautiful mountains surrounding the farm, playing Beachvolleyball or soccer in the near village, doing movie nights and table tennis in the main house or just relaxing.
I hope I can return someday, it would definitely be worth it!
Thank you for all the memorable experiences with you Astrid!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

We stayed with Astrid for the whole month of July 2022. Kandal is such a magical village surrounded by mountains and next to a picturesque lake - we were amazed by the beauty of this location! The place is however 17 kilometers away from Sandane and it's not accessible by bus, so it's ideal to come by your own car or make sure that Astrid will be

Astrid is such an inspiring lady with a bubbly personality, who loves to see the progress in work done on the barn. She sometimes wants us to work more than the agreed amount of hours, so communication about working times is key.
Astrid has no wifi at Skarstein Gard, so she sometimes takes more time to respond to messages - don't be worried. :)

Astrid is a lovely person with some exciting storys to tell. We had great evenings together with good food and interesting conversations. She was really thankfull for the work at the farm and with her contacts we were able to be part of the village life (volleyball with the best view ever).
