I had such an amazing month with Cristina, Valerie, and Vivian. I got to explore Brussels and get to know this lovely family so well. The month really flew by. I'm going to miss reading books, drawing pictures, painting stones, and learning the Italian names for animals with Valerie and Vivian. Could not recommend this Workaway more. Ciao

We were very happy to host Rose for a month and a half in winter 2025. A quiet and very competent teacher, Rose has remarkable experience with children, which translates into her perfect ease with being firm without losing warmth: she was always able to cuddle at the right moment and my girls loved her for that. … read more was a big sister who wasn't just there to play but also a true asset to their development. She made my older daughter confident in (finally!) speaking French, her third language, and she put great passion in bringing the little one to articulate sounds she hadn't managed to say before.
As someone who never sits on her hands, Rose was also incredible help to me as a mom. Very attentive to encouraging the girls in following up on my instructions, like pyjama time, she also regularly went the extra mile to help with anything that would make my life easier, even when she wasn't expected to - she often surprised me and btw she loves tidying up, who needs Marie Kondo anyway :) And when I thanked her, she would reply "c'est normal". I honestly couldn't recommend her more. Thank you Rose!

I had the opportunity to stay with Cris and the girls for 6 weeks and I had a wonderful time there.
Cris is a lovely person and she will make you comfrotable and a make you part of the family really quickly.

Sarah visited from my favorite country, Australia, at a time when my world had just stopped: I had suddenly lost one of my parents back in my home country, and I was there for the funeral with my girls the day Sarah arrived. She found the keys our previous guest had arranged to leave for her and she treated our apartment with greatest respect,

I was still blindsided when we did, but also eager to learn that our life would have positive moments again, and while those times are so blurred a year later, when I finally get down to looking back and writing this review among others, I remember very clearly how Sarah spread happiness around her. With her I had lots of laughs, got the chance to break my stereotypes of a country I have loved since I was a child, and learnt more about the culture. My girls also loved Sarah from the beginning and I know that their "back to normal" phase was made simpler too by her presence. She is an extremely patient young woman with a relaxed attitude and a natural ability to motivate others while keeping a smile on her face, which made it easy for her to interact with my girls of such different ages - and so much easier for me to look ahead. Besides, she's the kind of person who will clean the table after dinner without you needing to tell her. I'll be forever grateful for her invaluable help at a time which was psychologically so challenging. Hopefully see you in Melbourne in a couple of years!Feedback

If you have the chance to host Virginie, do know that her joy is contageous: I love the way she talks about her job with young people with special needs. She's very good at entertaining children of any age, both through quiet activities like bracelet-making, and also games requiring more energy: she could have spent hours playing "loup garou" with my girls and their friends. In short, she was the star of the playground :)

We felt very lucky to have Catherine in our family: a kind young woman with amazing traveling behind her, quiet and at the same time always up for interesting conversations, she stayed with us for a month in winter 2022.

… read more at a time when 2-year old started refusing the stroller and had to be closely followed everywhere. Thanks to Catherine we could all enjoy our first family party at my workplace, where she did a great job sharing supervision with me.
At home she spent lots of time reading with my girls, introducing them to her favorite book series from her own childhood (Fancy Nancy isn't as much fun without you, Catherine!). Also her passion for photography means so many fun memories for us to keep, which I'm so grateful for, especially as a single mom who doesn't always have it easy to get pictures taken with her kids.
Last but not least, Catherine has great sense of initiative. While I don't usually require much help around the home, she still always found ways to be useful and was an incredibly fast learner: she'd look at you doing things once then do them exactly the way you did. Thanks a lot Catherine for the load you took off me! We can only heartfeltly recommend you as a workawayer and look forward to seeing you in Virginia in the near future.

My stay with Cris and her girls was an incredible first workaway experience. I was able to stay with them for a little over a month and Valerie and Vivian welcomed me right away with lots of hugs.

… read more loved showing me her Dora DVDs and I enjoyed hearing her say new English words to me. They are both such lovely kids and I cherish every moment I shared with them.
Cris could not have been a better host. She has an open and loving heart. We had incredible conversations (she has so many amazing stories to tell) and I got to learn a lot about all of the places she has traveled to. She took me to a couple Christmas Markets with the girls (which I was so excited about!) and gave me lots of recommendations on places to visit and to eat at.
Cris helped me get in touch with other people my age and I was able to see a lot of Belgium during my free time and weekends, as well.

If you're thinking of hosting Sofia you'll be amazed how easy-going she is. Not only is she uncomplicated when it comes to food, schedules etc., which makes life as a host family quite easy; I also truly admire her ability to fit in and make friends anywhere, due to her positive attitude and curiosity towards life. She's a real bundle of energy who will travel all over and seize any chance for socializing and still be ready and up at 7 the next day to take care of your children with a big smile on her face. We're really happy we got the chance to meet Sofia and enjoy seeing her again every time she's back to Brussels.

In my free time I had enough time to meet friends, get to know Brussels and on my days off see other cities in Belgium.
I look back on the time we spent together with happiness and am grateful for the positive experiences I was able to have. Through the highs and lows which we encountered together as a team, a friendship was formed and I was able to grow and take home precious experiences and memories. … read more they're grown-ups, Alena was always very respectful of our home and eager to integrate in the family, and most important really caring towards the children. My 5-year old is still speaking of her months later: she loved chatting and drawing with her and wishes they could still go to school together in the morning - by the way Alena was always perfectly in time in her duties. Besides she was naturally able to get my daughter to carry out hers (e.g. get dressed) by remaining firm and warm at the same time. When playing together, one thing I especially appreciated was the fact that she could actively engage with the children by showing interest and following them around instead of just sitting down waiting for them to go and look for her. Her help was also a true blessing when we all got sick.
If you're the lucky parent she has contacted, do know that she is also an awesome cook: we are still thinking of her when we make good use of her creative recipes.

During my free time, I got to experience a lot of Brussels and Cris provided me with a lot of helpful tips on what to do, see and eat around the city and even went so far as to help me get in touch with people my age, which I greatly appreciated.
Work never really felt like work: more like spending time with your family; playing or cooking together and going through our daily lives side by side.
Together we even managed to most stressful days :)
There is so much more that can be said, it is definitely a memory I will always keep in my heart and I miss you already.
