Description
We are seeking COUPLES / TWO WORKAWAYERS to come and help us. Please only apply if you are travelling with a friend or partner.
Our property of almost 7 hectares backs onto the Wombat State Forest with the house facing west giving us great views over the top of the forest and amazing sunsets.
The proximity to the forest means we have some visitations from kangaroos, wallabies and wombats with the occasional koala or echidna strolling by. We also have our 2 resident eagles continually patrolling the valley and plenty of birdlife in the native garden. There are many forest walking tracks directly off the property. There is a large, spring fed dam adjacent to the house stocked with silver perch, a hot tub downstairs, an entertainment area with BBQ facilities and a pizza oven.
During your time at our Farm you will share our lovely home with Norma, Jim, Fergus and Dougal. We are a family of four, Norma who retired after having owned cafes and a restaurant plus a travel business has dedicated herself to creating a sustainable and stunning garden of nearly a hectare. Jim, also retired, is the very handy handyman. Fergus and Dougal the Cairn Terriers who live for eating, are small but think big. Dougal is also the chicken whisperer. Fergus and Dougal share the grounds with 2 alpacas, 8 sheep, 2 pea hens, one peacock (Henry) and 15 chickens.
We are fully vaccinated for Covid-19 including our boosters.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

It is important for both parties that it is clear from the outset what we should expect from each other during your Workaway stay. We will request your help for five days per week and about 4-5 hrs per day with recognizable outcomes that ensure both you and we are pleased with the assistance you provided.
We are happy to work with a flexible program that will allow you to contribute the requested hours per week in a way that creates time for you to explore the region. We would like a two week stay if possible, but are negotiable on this. Some of outside tasks you will be asked to do: mulching, watering, weeding, soil and compost preparation, setting up garden beds, digging, moving materials, mowing (ride-on mower), painting etc. Some minor housekeeping might be asked of you. In some instances tasks may be physically demanding but should that be the case it will be managed sensibly. We see your time with us as a team effort with satisfaction in what we achieve as our desired outcome.Langues parlées

Autres infos...
Daylesford, 4 kilometres from where we live, is a vibrant, tourist town in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range of Victoria, Australia. It’s known for its natural mineral springs and many walking trails. The leafy Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens sits atop an extinct volcano. On its grounds, a 19th-century mansion is home to the Convent Gallery. When visiting the regular Sunday market it’s possible to ride the Daylesford Spa Country Railway which winds through farmland and forest. There is a local swimming pool, lake and cinema. Located nearby are the old gold mining towns of Ballarat, Creswick and Castlemaine. It’s a short drive to Ballan and the regular train to Melbourne takes one hour from there.

From the first second on we felt like home. We were two of six workawayers so it was a big and fun community. Norma and Jim made sure all of us had a great time and drove or picked us up from anywhere we wanted to go around the area.
