I was completely immersed in Irish culture, in a beautiful countryside. I especially enjoyed my conversations with Emma, she taught me a lot!
And of course, I can't forget the dogs! Molly, Charlie and Cookie were full of love to give and receive, and taking care of them was the best "job" I could have asked for.
I also had time to explore the area, and they were always happy to give me recommendations and even take me to beautiful places.
I am grateful for this experience, l left with wonderful memories. I hope to see you again one day!

The family is very close and always makes time to get together, such as having dinner all together. I must say that Emma is an amazing chef and her recipes come from all over the world. She's always happy to learn new dishes, so for future Workawayers, I'd recommend sharing a traditional recipe from your country - they'll love it!
The whole West Cork area is beautiful and I would definitely recommend a visit, I had the chance to go on a few trips myself.
In conclusion, I give the experience top marks!

He was so hardworking and genuinely loved plants and trees so it was a pleasure to have him help me choose things in the garden centre😁 Although we primarily needed his help outside, he could prepare delicious risottos etc when I was under pressure and helped with vacuuming etc as needed! He planted raspberry bushes much to our son's delight and inspired him to continue planting things when he was gone! We were so thrilled with all he accomplished while he was here. I was able to get some writing done and do a little local exploration. There is plenty to see and explore in this part of Cork.

Emma and her family was so lovely and welcoming! I only stayed with them for one week but that was enough time to know that they are great Hosts.

The dogs were so lovely, I had a lot of fun with them!
The house was warm and cozy - I loved my room and enjoyed sitting by the fire and chatting with Emma, Les, Ryan and Miya. They were really welcoming and interested in you as a person. We would talk about everything!
I the beginning of the week I felt ill and Emma would do everything to make me feel top fit again. One of my personal highlights was spending time with them on St. Patrick's Day in Clonakilty. Because I love (and study) theatre, they arranged for me to see the traditional play "the field" from a local drama festival - it was amazing and such a unique experience!
Especially one of my last days I feel really grateful for: Emma, Miya and I went to a Hotel pool and had a good swim, sauna and after that I took a short walk on the sunny beach in Clonakilty. It was so lovely.
Looking back I realise that it was more a vacation than work!

I just can recommend this family and encourage you, guys, to enjoy silent moments in front of their fireplace, play with the dogs as much as you can, and enjoy being part of their family for a while!

My stay with this family went well, they are welcoming and the house is very comfortable. The work was not difficult, and I had a lot of free time. But you have to know that in terms of mobility I couldn't move around much because the first town is 15km away. If you are looking for a quiet and secure experience as an au pair, go for it!

… read more perfect mixture of outside work and housework and Emma and Les always appreciate what you do and were always patient when I understood something wrong or had language problems.
The surrounding area is just stunning. The view from the sunroom and from the roads is amazing and I had great times walking with the two dogs (I really fell in love with them <3) or playing outside with the kids. Miya and Rían never get tired playing games outside, on the trampoline or inside and always loved to play with me what I really enjoyed.
Clonakilty is a beautiful little town with a lot of pubs with fantastic live music. Emma, Les or his dad could often give me a lift in town so that I could discover Clon and other places in West Cork or Cork City. If you stay longer I would highly recommend to get in touch with aupairs in Clon (there is a Facebook group and if you ask they add you to the Whatsapp group) – it’s a great way to make good friends here. So I found many friends to go on trips and it never was a problem to change my working hours if I wanted.
I could write so much more about this lovely family and my great time I had there. In the end I can just say: Thank you so much that you gave me and so many other workawayers the possibility to be a part of your family so that it felt like a second home . … read more fast learner and within a short while, she started chores around the house without anyone needing to tell her. I could relax knowing that if I went out for a few hours, Ida would see what needed to be done. For a 19 year old, she was very mature and capable.
As for our kids, they both loved her! She never complained about the endless games of monopoly or the pleas to go on the trampoline!!!! She was very kind and gentle with them both. Our dogs fell in love with her too and were frequently found on her knee! While she lived with us, I showed her quite a few recipes which she mastered really well and she often cooked great meals for us. She was always motivated and happy to learn or help out, whether it was in the house or the garden. We would happily have Ida come and stay anytime again and she knows she's welcome to come back for a weekend while she's still in Ireland 😊😊😊

We've enjoyed many trips together and I could experience the country, since I had the opportunity to travel around Ireland for ten days while they were on Holidays. There's a brilliant English teacher, who is doing English classes once in a week and they could drive me every week, so my English could have been improved.
In addition, my family from Switzerland visited me during my trip and we could enjoy a lovely time at the gorgeous beaches near the home all together.
I had the opportunity to meet new people for coffee or tea in Clonakilty (a town, that I really fell in love with) and it was never a problem for them to organize a drive.
I am really going to miss all of you, including Charlie, Cookie, Rosie, ducks and hens and maybe even the Irish weather!

Whether we asked her to do some gardening, power washing, housework or cooking, she always did everything 100%. Since ours hour's are flexible, she was able to take some long weekends off to visit Ireland with friends also. I can't say I learnt a lot of Italian (!) but her English improved greatly... We had no problems chatting and I thoroughly enjoyed her company when I had free time. We tried to bring her to some nice places and when the weather was bad she was happy to study by the open fire!! Being vegetarian wasn't an issue as we enjoy all types of food and loved an excuse to have more veggies in our diet:slight_smile: We miss the delicious baking that she sometimes produced spontaneously!! Around the house she was a great help with any chores we asked her to do. She was happy to help with the planting/ watering of veg and flowers in the garden also. Finally she was a lifesaver when it came to helping out with the rabbits and dogs! A true dog lover, she nursed our little Jack Russell when he broke a bone in his foot and needed to be given extra care. I'm a bit late with my feedback but better late than never: I absolutely recommend this host family. They will make you feel at home as soon as you've stepped over the threshold. The kids are so used to having a girl from abroad take care of them that they're not shy at all. On the contrary. They are curious and eager to show you all their pets,
… read more toys and talents. Sometimes whole afternoons go by while you play Monopoly with them or do some arts and crafts. Emma and Leslie are great host 'parents'. If you need anything you can just ask. Because the house is not within walking distance from a bus stop or any public transport, Emma takes great care to ask you if you want to go into town with her when she's working or running errands and organises that you get picked up if you want to stay longer. On weekends you can do your own thing or sometimes, the family will take you on a trip if you want to. We went on this fantastic camping trip to the Isle of Beara, slept in tents, made a fire and woke up to a flooded camping side. It was great and we had loads of fun.
You'll have plenty of laughs in the Sullivan house. It's a typical family life - a beautiful mixture of love, fun, enthusiasm, a healthy bit of chaos, a never-ending stream of ideas and things they want to do and chocolate ;) And arriving there, you'll automatically be part of it all. They really appreciate the work you do (even if it's just a load of laundry or walking the dogs). I had a wonderful time and am so grateful for all the memories I made there. The work was not demanding and varied and also thanks for the many times you collected me in Clonakilty and for all the lifts and daytrips you brought me with you! I spent three weeks with this lovely family and had such a great time! :)
They're extremly friendly and open-minded - soon I felt like a family member. I really enjoyed playing with their children, walking the dogs and chatting with Emma and Les. We did a lot of different things, they took me to many beautiful places and we had great moments

The children are adorable, the area they live in is amazing and the food is lovely!

I'll never forget the time with this lovely family. I felt really comfortable and like a family member.
I stayed about a month here.
The landscape is really great and I walked almost every day with the dogs.
The kids are so adorable and I played a lot with them and enjoyed it.

I stayed for almost a month with this lovely family and it was a wonderful experience!
I always felt like a family member and they try to do as much as possible to make you feel like home. They showed me great places in Ireland and I enjoyed the weekend trips with them.

They are open to try new things (like baking or cooking stuff) and very interested in other cultures.

We had Jana stay with us for a month in september 2016-she is a really lovely girl and was a fantastic help with our kids, in the house and was happy to do any chores we asked her. We were so sad the day Antonia left-she was such a fantastic help with our garden,our kids, cooking, help around the house etc. You never needed to tell Antonia something twice, and often she did far more than was required!!
