I was very excited for the year to come but unfortunately, I had to break off the year with Mary and Tommy. In their profile it is being said that they are looking for someone who takes care of their daughter Tríona and just some light housework (which in all fairness they didn’t specify). But coming back to that later. I came to Ireland to be an

When School started, I made Tríona lunch in the mornings and then the housework started. I thought with light Housework they meant cleaning the countertops or clearing out the dishwasher, it was anything but that. I felt like a Maid not an Au pair. I communicated that with them and then it was okay for a few days, and then I got back to being a Maid. The last two weeks before I left for Germany, I did something with the daughter on my Birthday, that was it. When I told them that I am not coming back to them it was brushed off with my homesickness, that was an issue in the first week but after that it was fine. I didn’t feel fully comfortable with them. Staying with Mary, Tommy and Triona was a real pleasure! They all were just to kind and since my first workaway host was "terrible" they just took me in at their place alongside 2 other workawayers I was traveling with.

In the evenings we used to sit in the living room, chatting together or watching a movie. Triona really is a Harry Potter fan, so we at least had one VERY important thing in common, but beware! Currently she's completely obsessed with Taylor Swift.
The work the 3 of us had to do was never the same. One day we cleaned the attic and the other day we would be working in the garden. We also got to paint chairs and tables and we kind of renovated one bedroom by first cleaning it and then painting the walls and the ceiling. It also was no problem to stack hours and take one additional day off. Mary always encouraged us to visit many locations and to go to Killarney and Cork. She also helped me out with my upcomming travel plans, I really appreciate the way she supported me.
At few points the communication could have been a little better, but I absolutely loved the time I spend with the whole family.
I wish you all the very best and thank you for everything!
