John (and Paris!) were a pleasure to stay with. He made me feel entirely welcome, and provided great conversation and experiences for me. He introduced me to fishing, we went out on several occasions, and through our chats he taught me a lot about Australian culture and the local area.

… read more having to worry about food, accommodation or loneliness. He’s an active guy and not one to just watch you work, he jumps in and is flexible with free time. He would drop me off at the bus stop or train station so I could get out to Landsborough or Sunshine Coast to enjoy my time off, and was always eager to help me settle in and enjoy my time. I would recommend this workaway to anyone. Thanks a load John, it would be great to see you again when I come up next, perhaps we can go fishing :)

Gethin stayed whit me for three weeks. A lot was accomplished I'm that time. He was great company, a good communicator and a diligent worker. I'm sure he would fit in any future host. The 5 star rating is well deserved

Janice stayed at my place for round ten weeks. She had a part time hospitality job in Maroochydore, mostly working afternoon and evening shifts.
She was well regarded by her employer and was offered the opportunity to to be reemployed should she travel back to Australia.

I stayed with John and his little dog Paris for two weeks, and it was amazing. I had a job in Caloundra, but we found an agreement that made both of us happy. I worked with him for a few hours after my job, and it worked out perfectly.

I stayed at John’s place for about 2 weeks. While my stay, my car had some problem. So I needed to go to mechanic few times and he was always flexible with my schedule. Alex was great company. My first Workaway after Covid. You can imagine lots of jobs around the property. Not being as energetic as usual following my knee replacement Alex did the heavy lifting Phew the 20 day went so fast. In addition to the tasks completed by Alex. He became aware of a few Odd Aussie sayings.

I must say I was sorry to see him go as there many more jobs to be done but one needs acknowage Workaways are travellers and always looking for the next adventure.

Mooloolah is a small village and there is not much to see without a car, so I moved on. I stayed with John for somewhere around 2 weeks. Work was never too much and John was always keen to help however he could. It was a lot of gardening-esque or landscaping. … read more ready to be picked during my stay. Also, The food was good and pretty healthy. John usually cooked but is open to have the guest if they have a meal they wish to make. Paris was a sweetheart to me and would happily sit on my lap. She listens to John very well.
We stayed on the boat for 5 days. We went to maybe 4 islands. Saw sting rays, small sharks, millions of crabs, dolphins, bioluminescent algae, So many fish, a clear night sky, and much more. It was an amazing experience. We caught fish (and once crab) then cooked them right away.
Overall, I rate my experience as highly as I can. John was the best part of it. He is such a genuine and caring guy. You’ll see when you stay.

Drake stayed at my place for a little over a fortnight. He was a great company and has a bright and happy disposition. We completed a number of tasks around the garden which I had been putting off for some time. The weather was very hot and humid. He handled it with ease. He crewed for me on Serenita {motor cruiser} on a four-day cruise in Moreton
… read more Bay. The weather was great except for the last day. We rolled around a bit on the trip home. Drake handled it like a true seaman and learnt a number of boating skills on the way. I,m sure he enjoyed the trip. There was some routine maintenance to be done on the boat when we got back to the mooring in the Brisbane River. He was a big help;. A task that usually takes me half a day was completed in a couple of hours.
Drake is easy to get along with, he is a good worker, a quick learner. His five stare rating reflects those qualities.
I wish him safe travels and all the best with his studies when he returns home.

Ronald stayed with me just on 6 weeks in that time we completed many tasks around my property.
In that time I virtually did not do any domestic chores (cooking, cleaning). Ronald did the lot keeping my home spotlessly clean.
In the third week, I had relatives arrive at short notice so Ron and I had to share the bathroom and toilet. It worked out
… read more well. He got on so well with them they invited him to their home in southern Victoria when he next comes to Australia.
We went boating a few times and with it, Ron:s confidence with being on the water grew (Ron is a now swimmer)
however, when we ventured into open waters and the movement of the boat increased Ron became very seasick.
His preference was either the Brisbane River or Bribie Passage a beautiful location to relax. He was a great help with lowering and lifting the anchor which is assisted by a hydraulic winch and mooring Serenita (boat's name) He was by the time he left able to operate the tender fitted with a small outboard by himself.
I greatly appreciated all Ron"s help and hope his time with me was enjoyable. I believe he would have experienced quite a few new and exciting moments.
I wish him well in his future travels (which I'm sure will be many more) and his project in Chang MIa Thailand

It was my first work away experience and it was awesome.
I’m a single traveller and I planned to stay 2 weeks but it was so good that I’ve stayed 3,5 weeks with John and his great little dog Paris. John is a great person with an easy going attitude that made me feel, almost like home. He always worked with me (so I haven’t felt left alone) but
… read more he also suggested some extra activities such as surfing and visit at the Lady Musgrave which was an amazing experience. It’s good to have a car so you can visit places: Brisbane, Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Noosa but since I didn’t have one I easily traveled with the train. John even drove me to surfing classes in Caloundra. He is very flexible and you can easily arrange with him some “free time”.
John is also an excellent cook and jam maker. After working, he will prepare great meal and you need to taste his grape jam.
When it comes to work: I’ve picked fruits, clean house (windows, floors etc. ), mown the lawn, did some painting, tree trimming, helped with small construction and so on. John has a boat that needed some repairing (painting, cleaning) and we’ve done it during great trip through the Bribie passage where I was fishing, learning some boat skills and enjoying the time.
John provide great accommodation with your own room and own bathroom/toilet. Also work clothes were provided.
I recommend to get your own mobile data (I had Vodafone) since the reception is not so good and internet might be patchy.
