    Description

You're traveller dreams are in the south of Chile? We are looking for you: adventurous, wanderers, curious, creatives and proactive minds who can help us on the farm.

    About Us
We are the Lischka- Prenzlau, a chilean-german family living on a 350-hectare farm near Puerto Octay, a tiny town located on the shores of Llanquihue's Lake with stunning view over Osorno volcano. If you think that this is a postal card, yes, it is. We feel the responsability to keep this natural landscape and this way of living alive, but we also love to open and share our world with the world. Thats why we need and we appreciate volunteers.

Our world turn around nature and people. That's means that we love and believe in upcycling, restorating, basic woodworking, painting, landscaping, but we also appreciatte to discover new ways to communicate our actions using social medias.

    What you will find here?

    The Organic & Biodynamic Farm

Most of your time is gonna be dedicated to help in our organic farm, knowing that we are in a way to be biodynamic. You’ll learn about sustainable food production and seasonal process.

    Is all about sharing
We are interested on YOU, as a persona, so we also appreciatte if you share your skills with our family and local team.

    Food with roots

You will put your hands on the earth daily (can be raining or full sun, we never know) but don't worry, you will see this effort on the table and taste the products thats come from our land. Any carrot, potatoe, spinach, tomatoe or lettuce grow here respecting the seasons. Thats why we say our food have roots and, while on the restaurante, you will discover not just flavors but our heritage mixed between chilote and german history. Our daily life happens around traditions and farm-to-table living. This is also an opportunity to discover new products coming from the ocean because - pay attention - we are not vegan: we raise, slaughter and cook lambs, chickens, fishes, porks, funghis and seaweeds.

    Home for animals
For all animal lovers out there : our farm is home to cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, pigs, alpacas, and friendly pets.

    People
We have an extended "family" here starting with Cornelia, Matthias, Andrea, Nina, Martin and Christophe and accompanied by Lolo, Bernardo, Susana, Raimundo, Florian on the farm and Lissete, Marcelo, Simón and Paola on the restaurante. You gonna discover our different accents, jobs and multigenerationals skills all in one. Part of your time is gonna be dedicated to chat and share with our community.

    Sustainability with creativity
We love - and need -your skills and motivations around upcycling projects, eco-friendly and sustainable ideas. Your ideas are always welcome!

    Cultural Exchange & Learning Opportunities

Volunteering with us is a deep dive into the unique lifestyle of Southern Chile, where traditional Chilote/Chilean countryside culture meets German heritage. You will live and work alongside a local family and our farm team, sharing daily routines, traditional meals, and Spanish conversation.

What you will learn and experience with us:

Sustainable & Organic Farming: You will gain hands-on experience in managing a large-scale vegetable garden and greenhouse. You’ll learn about organic food production, crop rotation, and how we track our farm’s yield from seed to harvest.

Upcycling & Practical Creativity: We love finding new lives for everyday objects. You can learn how we upcycle glass bottles into drinking glasses for the restaurant and contribute your own green ideas.

Community Connection: By helping us with local museum fairs during Easter or Christmas, you will connect directly with local craftsmen and neighbors, experiencing the true, warm heart of Puerto Octay's community.

Above all, you will experience the breathtaking peace of Chilean Patagonia, waking up every day to views of Lake Llanquihue and four volcanoes, while learning what it truly means to live sustainably and close to the land.

    About Us & Our Farm

We are a family farm located six kilometres from Puerto Octay, with a fantastic view of Lago Llanquihue and 4 volcanoes.

Our Restaurant: We own an authentic Chilean-German restaurant where most of the food is made with ingredients straight from the farm.

The Vegetable Garden: This is the place we need more help. All of our vegetables and meat, as well as marmalades, jams, and juices, are produced organically.

Our Animals: The farm is 350 hectares and we have cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, pigs, and alpacas, along with our friendly dogs and cats.

    Our Sustainability Philosophy
We are always trying to reduce and reuse. For example, we upcycle empty glass bottles to make our own drinking glasses for the restaurant. If you love recycling, upcycling, or DIY projects, your ideas and help will be greatly welcome here!

Our Seasons & What to Expect
Spring & Summer (Planting & Harvesting): This is our busiest and most vibrant time! Work involves maintaining the garden, planting, and harvesting our fresh produce, cleaning wheat, prepping delivery boxes.

Autumn (Winding Down & Fairs): As the harvest season wraps up, we focus on preparing the land for the colder months. During Easter, we also help organize the local community fair at the Puerto Octay Museum, helping with setups, garden maintenance, or activities for kids.

Winter (A Special Cozy Retreat): We usually don't host short-term volunteers during winter because it gets cold and daylight hours are short. However, we open our doors as a unique opportunity for families or couples looking for a long-term stay. If you are looking for a peaceful pause, a quiet retreat, or a transitional "bridge" between chapters in your life, our farm in winter is the perfect place to slow down, connect, and live a cozy, slow-paced countryside experience.

Special Opportunity: Long-Term Garden & Greenhouse Leader (October – March).
We are looking for a dedicated, long-term volunteer who wants to fully immerse themselves in sustainable agriculture from October to March.

This is a fantastic learning opportunity where you will work closely with our team to learn how to manage a commercial vegetable garden and our greenhouses. Your roles will include:

Assisting our employees with weeding, planting, and maintaining the crops.

Collecting, harvesting, and preparing fresh produce for the farmers' market and our customers.

Helping us keep track and log what we produce throughout the season.

If you are organized, love nature, and want to learn the ins and outs of farm management, this role is for you!
If you love painting, landscaping, basic carpentry, interior design, or if you are simply a proactive person with a creative vision for improving spaces and gardens, this is the place for you!

    Vanlife & Digital Nomad Friendly
Campervans Welcome: There are plenty of beautiful spots on our farm to park and live in your campervan or motorhome!

Connectivity: We have fiber optic internet at the restaurant, so you are welcome to work from that space during restaurant hours. Alternatively, you can work from the laundry room at any time (and maybe help us keep the laundry and drying moving along while you are at it!)

Explore Puerto Octay & The Lake District
Picturesque Puerto Octay is one of the best-kept secrets in the region and arguably the most charming town in the Lake Llanquihue District. Nestled on the northern shore of the lake, it was once a bustling lakeside port. Today, time seems to stand still here.

Walking through its peaceful streets, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful German colonial-style architecture—a living legacy of the 19th-century pioneers. Many of these historic buildings now operate as cozy cafes, bakeries, and inns.

What you can do in your free time:

Nature & Hiking: Explore the black-sand beaches, hike with stunning views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes, or kayak on the pristine waters of Lake Llanquihue.

Local Gastronomy: Discover the region's famous fusion of Chilean and German flavors (you must try the local kuchen!).

Perfect Base Camp: We are just a short bus ride away from Frutillar, Puerto Varas, and the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, making our farm the perfect base to explore the gateway to Chilean Patagonia.
