    Hello and welcome! 😊

I'm Danni and live in the beautiful historic center of Guanajuato, Mexico with my partner Daniel. It's a cozy two-bedroom home that's within walking distance of everything the city has to offer: colorful alleyways, plazas, cafés, markets, museums, and local events. Staying here means you can easily explore the city on foot and experience everyday life in one of Mexico's most unique and vibrant destinations.

You'll have your own private bedroom and bathroom, giving you a comfortable space to relax and recharge during your stay.

Sharing the home with us is Iggy, my sweet, 10 year old dog. He's friendly, affectionate, and always happy to make new friends/ steal some food when you're not looking. My partner Daniel travels between Guanajuato and Colima so he may or may not be around depending on the dates. We've both traveled and lived in a few different countries so we love to have adventures and exchange stories with new friends.

Right now, I'm looking for a creative volunteer or couple who would enjoy helping with a special art project. I'd love to have a jungle or cactus inspired mural painted on an exterior wall outside the guest bedroom window. I'm imagining lush tropical plants or a full cactus garden mural with a vibrant natural feel, but I'd also love to collaborate and hear your ideas. Experience with murals or large-scale painting would be wonderful, but enthusiasm, creativity, and attention to detail are just as important.

There are some house chores that I'm looking for help with like daily sweeping, helping in the garden, a few walls need painting and walking Iggy :)

I am also interested in learning how to cook food from other countries- I am a good cook and I enjoy it so learning more recipes will be so appreciated! I'd love to learn some African, Turkish, Greek, and Asian dishes.. We love food with big flavors.

For me, Workaway is about more than completing a project. It's an opportunity to meet interesting people from different backgrounds, share experiences, and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.

If you're artistic, reliable, and excited about leaving your creative mark on a home in the heart of Guanajuato, I'd love to hear from you and see examples of your work.

I look forward to meeting you!

I live in the heart of Guanajuato Centro, so there are always opportunities to experience local life. We can explore the city together, visit cafés, markets, museums, and local festivals when they are happening. Because everything is within walking distance, it's easy for Workawayers to meet locals, practice Spanish (or take a Spanish class), and experience the unique culture and atmosphere of Guanajuato. You'll also get plenty of quality time with my dog, Iggy, who is always happy to make new friends.

One of the reasons I'm excited to host is the opportunity to learn how people from different parts of the world see life, creativity, community, and travel. I enjoy hearing people's stories, learning about different customs and traditions, and exchanging ideas. Since this project is artistic in nature, I'm especially interested in seeing how different cultural influences and artistic styles might shape the mural and bring new perspectives into my home.

🌿🎨🏡 I hope the experience feels less like a work exchange and more like sharing a home, ideas, meals, and conversations while creating something beautiful together.

The main project for this stay is creating a jungle or cactus-inspired mural on an exterior wall outside the guest bedroom window. The mural area is relatively small, but it does require accessing the space by climbing out through the bedroom window to reach the wall. Because of this, volunteers should be comfortable with basic physical movement and working in a somewhat unconventional space.

There won't be a need to use a ladder, the highest you'll need to be is standing on a chair :)

I'm looking for someone who can dedicate approximately 4-5 hours per day to the mural project. The schedule is flexible and can be adjusted around weather and personal plans, but I'd appreciate consistent daily progress.

I will provide all paint, brushes, and other necessary materials. In return, I ask that supplies be treated with care, cleaned properly after use, and kept organized. Maintaining a tidy workspace is important, and I'd like the area to be left neat at the end of each work session.

I'd love the mural to feature lush tropical plants and foliage, creating the feeling of looking out onto a vibrant jungle garden. While I have a general vision, I'm open to collaborating with artists and hearing creative ideas that fit the space.

If you're interested, please send photos of previous artwork, murals, or painting projects so we can discuss whether the project is a good fit for both of us.

Workawayers will stay in a comfortable private guest bedroom with a double bed and their own private bathroom. The room is thoughtfully decorated with a cozy, colorful style that reflects the charm and character of Guanajuato. It's a welcoming space to relax, read, or recharge after a day of exploring the city or working on the mural. The kitchen is available for you to use, I just ask that it is kept clean after cooking:)

One thing to note is that I teach classes online and keep an early (4am )schedule. I go to bed early and wake up early, so I'm looking for guests who are respectful of a quieter household during evening and early morning hours. I hold my online classes in the dining room since wifi is the strongest there. You are absolutely welcome to enjoy the city and your free time, but a considerate and peaceful home environment is appreciated.

3 Simple meals will be provided and kitchen access is available for anyone who wants to cook:)

My goal is for guests to feel comfortable, welcome, and at home while sharing a respectful living space together.

I will provide a simple breakfast (10 am) snack and dinner (6pm) during your stay. The kitchen is shared, and guests are welcome to use it. I simply ask that everyone cleans up after themselves and helps keep the kitchen and common areas tidy and organized.

The home is a no-shoes house, so everyone removes their shoes at the door. It is also a completely non-smoking home:)

Iggy is 10 years old. He followed me home 9 years ago when I lived in Medellin :) He loves food above all with his all time favorites being bread and carrots. He is a sweet snuggly boy who wont let you stop petting him once you've started. He loves to go on walks and swim.
