Description
We are a trendy hostel in the center of El Valle de Anton, Panama. This area is located in the crater of a volcano, famous for its waterfalls, rivers, hiking, and mud springs. Our hostel is focused on international travelers looking to meet other similar minds. In fact, we represent the tree under which Buddha achieved enlightenment. In creating a sociable and open space, we hope everyone passing through our hostel becomes a little enlightened themselves.

We have a total of 4 local Panamanians working full time here and you will get to learn Panamanian culture from them! All of them love food so be prepared to get to know some local dishes - especially patacones made the true Panamanian way.

As a volunteer at our Hostel, your tasks will fit one of the descriptions below:
Entertainer ( This is currently the most sought-after position ): This position requires a creative, open, and extroverted person. Your task will be to create little events or activities for our guests and lead them. This can be anything from games, dinners, group hikes/walks - there are no limits!
Sheet shifter: Volunteers regularly change beds after checkout, wash sheets and make the bed for new arrivals.
We are also open to volunteers who have specific skills or experience, such as:
Volunteers that are native in Spanish or have advanced knowledge in Spanish and could offer some Spanish lessons to our guests.
Filmmakers or photographers to help create content for the hostel.
Experienced yoga teachers or workout instructors - we offer free yoga and exercise classes for our guests most days.
Artists and carpenters to help with projects around the hostel.
We also love individual creativity, so volunteers are free to let us know how they would like to help, whether that be painting, sewing, or handiwork etc.
Outside of these positions, volunteers are free to explore El Valle and relax in the hostel. Our volunteers regularly hike to local viewpoints and waterfalls and enjoy the sites of El Valle, such as an orchid garden and hot springs. Nearly all of these are within walking distance of the hostel, though volunteers can also take buses or bikes.

We offer volunteers a bed in our dormitory, free breakfast, bikes whenever there are plenty available, and group laundry between everyone.

To ensure we are a good fit for each other, all volunteers start with a mandatory 1-week trial period. If after the first week we feel you lack the initiative, proactiveness, or hygiene standards required for the role, we will ask you to leave. We value our community and our guests too much to keep volunteers who do not pull their weight.
We are not a party hostel - if you are a party-loving person this might not be the right place for you.
We love hosting Workawayers, but we run a busy, high-energy hostel. We are currently only looking for volunteers who are self-starters, proactive, and highly social. If you need someone to hold your hand, give you a list of tasks every hour, or remind you to stay on top of things, this is not the right placement for you.
We expect our volunteers to see a problem and fix it. If you see a messy table, wipe it. If a guest looks lonely, talk to them.
The Essential Requirements
High Initiative: You can work completely on your own and take ownership of your shifts.
Social & Welcoming: You actively engage with guests and help create a vibrant hostel atmosphere.
Cleanliness & Personal Hygiene: This is a hospitality environment. We maintain a high standard of cleanliness for our hostel, and we expect our volunteers to maintain excellent personal hygiene (clean clothes, regular showering).
Independence: You are expected to manage your responsibilities without constant supervision.

Sebastien is a very fun and responsible person! He initially only ment to stay roughly 2 weeks but ended up staying way longer. He's very helpful and took initiative when he saw that we needed help at reception or when guests needed anything. He also created a beautiful mural next to our Hostel and other art in our Hostel. Great guy!

We had a great time with Oscar and James. They came to film a promotional video for the hostel. They were really professional and we learned a lot about film making from them. We can't wait for the video to come out! Highly recommended for creative work!

Michelle is a free and fun spirit. She came to our hostel to teach yoga, and did a great job. On top of that, she connected with our guests and recommended another great yoga teacher to come teach here. We highly recommend her.

Alyssa..... is a bubbly character. She makes suggestions (artsy ones) and if you listen you would not regret it. While she was here, she painted a Buddha behind the reception, quotes around the hostel, and changed sheets. She can do just about everything you throw at her and more. This was Neil's first experience volunteering and we were happy to have hosted him. He is very chilled out and gets along with everyone. While he was here, he remade our website and made sure we stood out more in terms of google standings. Overall we enjoyed his company and hopes he gets to travel again soon! Highly Recommended!!

Our longest volunteers by far, Daniel and Rachel are excellent teachers who taught our Spanish speaking staff English. Their patience and teaching strategies made the classes very enjoyable and engaging. Guillermo is a very talented artist who creates amazing pieces of art... especially since he only started for a year. He is focused on what he does and brought nice vibes to our hostel. And he seems to know the lyrics of every song. We highly recommend him to volunteer in your hostel if you need a creative individual.

Megan's first volunteer experience and she was a gem. Willing to help with anything you throw her way, she was our guerrilla marketer. She helped us update and improve our social media pages and reservation channels. On top of that, she helped us write a guide book on the local attractions. I highly recommend her for other hostels!

George and Lisa are a very genuine couple who likes to help in everything. George himself is an excellent cook (he has not realized it yet) who helped me think of some menu items for the cafe. They also prepared the recipes for taste testing between all the volunteers. We definitely miss them and also lose a couple pounds now that they left. … read more

Thomas is a great guy with a positive attitude. He stayed with us for about 2 weeks and contributed much to our new hostel. On top of that, he is trying to improve his Spanish, which is a huge plus. We highly recommend him to everyone!
