Description
Hi travelers, my name is Lori and together with my husband Tim we are the owners and managers of our family-run Farm holiday in Umbria (Perugia). We speak English, French, Dutch and and Spanish. Our property is located in a small village called Fratticiola Selvatica on the hill around Perugia at 600 mt above the sea level. We manage 4 hectares of land, 1 of it with olive trees (150 trees), the rest is for seasonal crops. The house consist of 4 independent apartments fully surrounded by nature and with a 180 degree view of the Chiascio river valley. You can reach the center of the village in 10 minutes walking where you can find a mini market, bar and a bakery or just start a nice hiking.

We are an Italian-Belgian couple, been working on tourism field for over 20 years, friendly and open minded to all cultures and traditions. We would like to transfer our knowledge so if you come and stay with us you can experience how to cook… and of course, eat… traditional and tasty dishes typical from Italy ( risotto, homemade pasta, ragout, tiramisu,…) and how to recognize edible wild herbs and fruits, how to cook and use them in several recipes. You can also help with some small carpentry and mechanic jobs which my husband loves to do.
You’ll have time also to visit the nicest cities nearby as Gubbio and Perugia well connected with public transports (600 mt the nearest bus stop) and have the opportunity to join us and discover new places rich in history, art and nature, since we always look for new attractive places and try activities to be offered to our guests during tourist season. During your stay you will have the opportunity to participate in several events that are running all over the region: food and wine events, musical, medieval historical re-enactments, fairs and village festivals.

We're looking for some help every year during tourist low season (from October till April) to give us a hand to collect olives from our 150 plants during the harvest season (November) prune trees, gardening, wood collect, little maintenance of the 3 apartments, cooking and cleaning, take care of our 3 dogs and chickens.

Hébergement
You'll have a bedroom with private bathroom at your disposal , that you can share with a friend or a companion, in an independent flat composed by others 2 bedrooms, always with private bathroom where sometimes we host tourists, family or friends during weekends or holiday periods. We could eat all together if you like and we can switch each other to prepare lunch and dinner. Breakfast time will be on your own but I will provide you for all the necessary. You should share your time with us for little help at least 4 hours per day especially in the morning from 9 to 1pm, after lunch you will be free to do what you prefer. Work commitments are flexible and the scheduled timetable could change depending on the weather conditions. Now and then we will be away for a few days, but we will provide you with all the necessary so you don't have to go hungry.

It’s important you respect few rules in the house such as: no smoking inside , do not eat in the bedroom, keep clean and tidy the area you use (bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette), no noise during sleeping time.
We only started working with workaways last octobre 2018 but I think we're getting the hang of it and our workaways have been very happy until now.
Our guests that come here on holiday always say they feel at home, some of them are coming now for over 16 years.
Umbria region has lots of beautiful sites to discover: Perugia and Gubbio are only 20 km away very well connected by public transport (600mt the nearest bus stop). From Perugia you can reach any destination,by bus or train, inside the region like Assisi, Spoleto, Orvieto, Narni and Marmore Waterfalls and out the region such as Rome, Pisa, Siena, Florence, etc reachable by train.

Loredana e Tim sono stati molto ospitali e presenti. L'esperienza è stata esattamente come si era prospettata, ossia entusiasmante e istruttiva. L'ambiente è rilassante.
