Description
Hi, this is a permaculture, sustainability, and self-sufficiency project in the Tuscan Apennines, on a farm surrounded by woods.
The place is very wild, and we're working to integrate it with cultivated plants and trees.
We harvest herbs, plant vegetables, shrubs, and trees, and work with wood, food, water, and stones.
We're starting to create an agroforest.
We do small-scale earthworm farming, nursery gardening, and monitoring of local fauna and birdlife.
We're working on protecting and enhancing biodiversity.
The place is large and had been abandoned for 30 years, so the work is varied.
There's a river and a stream nearby.
There's also a small artisanal chocolate production workshop open in the cooler months.
A very sweet kitten, Pan, recently arrived, and he's very cuddly.

Ciao, questo è un progetto di permacultura, sostenibilità e autosufficienza sull'appennino toscano, in un podere circondato da boschi.
Il posto è molto selvatico e stiamo lavorando per integrarlo con le piante e gli alberi coltivati.
Si raccolgono le erbe, si piantano ortaggi, arbusti e alberi, si lavora col legno, col cibo, con l'acqua con le pietre.
Si sta cominciando a creare un'agroforesta.
Facciamo in piccolo lombricoltura, vivaistica e monitoraggio fauna e avifauna locale.
Si lavora sulla tutela e sull'arricchimento della biodiversità.
Il posto è grande ed era abbandonato da 30 anni e quindi i lavori sono variegati.
C'è il fiume e un ruscello vicino.
C'è anche un piccolo laboratorio di produzione di cioccolato artigianale attivo nei mesi più freschi ☺️
Da poco è arrivato un gattino dolcissimo, Pan, molto coccoloso 😺

There are many beautiful places to see nearby, including a medieval fortress, rivers, walking trails, and hiking trails.
The site can be reached via a 1.8 km dirt road (half of which is uphill) from the main road. There's a bus stop connecting Prato. The train station is 6 km away, on the Florence-Bologna line.

I really enjoyed working with Katarina! Although she was only here for a few days, she gave me a hand with all sorts of tasks – from housework and cooking to outdoor jobs like tending to the plants, chopping wood, and harvesting, etc.

Ho scelto di fare il periodo di Workaway a dicembre/gennaio, le mansioni da svolgere quindi sono state meno incentrate sull'agricoltura in quanto il periodo non era favorevole. Ho passato una settimana da Vittorio e nonostante la pioggia siamo riusciti a raccogliere un pò di erbe e siamo andate al mercato a Pistoia a vendere il suo ottimo cioccolato di cui purtroppo non sono riuscita a vedere il procedimento .

Mi sono trovato molto bene con Laura. Mi ha aiutato in diverse attività, sia interne che esterne. Abbiamo fatto semine, trapianti, legna, cucina, trasformazioni, gestito un evento e portato a termine diversi lavoretti che avevo in sospeso.

Margaux is a great person, helpful and speaks excellent Italian. During the time she has been here, she has helped me a lot in all facets of this project, with plants, with wood, with housework, with harvesting, with cooking, with processing, etc.

Siamo stati da Vittorio per 3 giorni ed abbiamo imparato moltissime cose, la sua conoscenza della natura è davvero impressionante.
un bravissimo chef esperto in cucina vegetariana/vegana che ci ha servito piatti davvero squisiti.
E' stata un'esperienza ricca ed intensa sia a livello di conoscenza sia a livello fisico.

Cecilia è stata davvero di grande aiuto in questo progetto. Mi ha dato una mano per i vari lavori di semina, trapianto, legna, cioccolato e preparazione della fascia agroforestale.

It was my first workaway and Vittorio was very welcoming, joyful and funny ! I was stressed at first but he made me feel at home. This experience reinforced my desire to live in the countryside and eat my own product food 😎 I hope to come back one day ! It was a good experience I recommend it :)

We had a great time at Vittorios place. The house surrounded by nature is a great place to calm down and relax. Vittorio is a lovely person, who welcomed us with an Open heart and moreover a great chef! We enjoyed our stay and will hopefully come back one day.

Had a great time with Vittorio! He teached me a lot about cooking, permaculture and lots of other stuff. He's an incredibly kind and thoughtful soul and you will definitely have a good experience if you decide to come here. 100/10
