    Description

We have a 200 acre ranch in the interior of BC that has lots of opportunities for learning. Currently we only have horses, but will be getting cattle and pigs once infrastructure has been completed. We have a half acre of haskap berries that we pick and process, as well as haying small squares for personal use. I have aspirations of putting in a large garden, but that has been on the back burner as having our first child has definitely made for some large adjustments in our priorities around the place.
We have broke horses that are safe and rideable for personal use only, since having my baby they are definitely sitting more than they should be. Workawayers are only working on personal items on the farm, no business related items or projects.

We have a 1 year old child and own a local mechanic shop. Both my husband and I grew up in the local town and have permanently put our roots down. I am currently getting into leatherwork. We are an easy going family that likes to joke and laugh. Our rural life style means we spend a lot of time outdoors running equipment for various projects, but in our downtime we thoroughly enjoy playing board games and card games. We are also 45 minutes from Green lake, which is the perfect temp to cool off in the summer.

I am currently organizing board/card games in winter months for our local community. Clinton is full of very artistic people that have a broad spectrum of talents. During the summer months I participate in horse clinics and events that brings in so many different types of people that have different interests within the same community. Clinics are an excellent learning experience and way to make new connections within the community. We are hoping to share some homesteading experience, as we are trying to get more and more out of our property to live off the land. I train horses and am happy to share the knowledge I have collected over the years. Our local flea markets on Sundays are a great social outting and showcase all of the hidden local talents, from home made canned goods, baked goods, artwork and so much more. I want to share my love of animal husbandry and Canadian rural living, in exchange I wish to try and broaden my skill sets and am very interested in learning about how others live and what their daily normalcy is. I want to share knowledge with those that come into my home and I am hopeful to learn new skills, bonus if it's leatherwork, horse, carpentry, sewing, gardening, or food processing related. I would love for my daughter to have exposure to multiple different languages and pick up a few things along the way for myself.

We are looking for someone who is willing to help with several aspects on the acreage, all of which are for personal use. I am happy to work with you and teach you. There is no such thing as a silly question. Most of these projects I would be working along side you or helping get you started in the right direction.
    Picking haskap berries
    Helping stacking square bales.
Feeding horses (winter time only, unless horses are in pens for riding).
    Firewood collection
Supervised babysitting (more or less someone to watch my child while I work a young horse in the arena or go to a clinic. We have a large horse trailer to accommodate everyone overnight on these trips if needed)
    Dog sitting
Simple house chores (dusting, vacuuming, organizing)

I would like my daughter to have more exposure to several languages and grow up with a better view of how others live life in other countries.

We have a large 5 bedroom 2 bathroom home. The basement is fully finished and has three bedrooms, bathroom and living room downstairs, which would be the primary living space. (I will add photos) The kitchen is shared and upstairs. We encourage people to be part of the family and socialize with us in the upstairs living room, however we also understand that it's important to have your area of personal space for downtime. In future we do plan on having some cabins available for those interested in a more private accommodation. We do have a 40ft living quarters horse trailer that is spacious and luxurious as another option. It is complete with full bathroom, kitchen, dinette and beds. Food is cooked in the main house and ingredients are provided. We are very much a meat and veg family and try to eat healthy, although we do enjoy eating chippies in the evening while playing games or watching a movie. We don't have dietary restrictions, but we limit peanut butter use if my brother in law is visiting as he is deathly allergic. We aren't opposed to having people with dietary restrictions, but we don't typically have gluten free items on hand.

We have lots of trails available locally, great lake 45 minutes away and a car for your use. Flea markets are every Sunday in town (10 minute drive)
Horses are available for outtings as well, lots of local clinics and fun days available for horse activities within an hour drive. We have an arena and have fun obstacles and a roping dummy for use as well. Local waterfalls are within hiking distance after a 10 minute drive across the road.
Near Green lake there is also a guest ranch that features local musical talent on the weekends and cabin rentals with trail rides offered in that area.
We are big advocates that safety is #1 no matter what you are doing around the property. We encourage that people ask questions, or express if they are uncomfortable with what they are asked to do (eg. Handling a saw or power tools)
We are respectful people of others opinions and expect the same treatment in return. Care of animals is very important to me, and they are to be looked after accordingly. We do not allow smoking in any building on the place, and prefer to not have it around, as we don't want to be picking up butts off the ground. If you are a respectful smoker and can keep butts in a designated disposal, we are pretty easy going. We don't have a strict bedtime schedule, but are generally respectful of keeping a reasonable level of noise while others are sleeping. We do rise early in our household and do expect that most people are awake by 9am majority of the time (I totally understand if you were having too much fun the night before and need a little catch up time).

We have lots of flat spots with access to power. You would have to dump your septic as we don't currently have a tank or drain field in place. Access to water is also available. Use of house for laundry, showering etc is still there full time as well.
