  Description

  Our organization manages in Romania an animal shelter in town of Cernavoda, Constanta county for 20 years now. Our shelter is the most modern dog & cat shelter in Romania, hosting around 200 dogs and 50 cats, along with a sanctuary for equines where you can find 56 donkeys and 21 horses.
  
  All our dogs and cats are being introduced in international adoptions programs, our scope is to not keep them too long in the shelter. We offer care and treatments, along with training and behavioural assesments to help the small animals integrate in their forever families.
  
  Donkeys and horses are in their retirement, part of long distance adoption programs, supported by different foreign organizations. We provide care and veterinary assistance for their entire life in 7 different stables.
  
  Currently, our team counts around 50 employees, mostly from villages nearby as we trying to support as much as possible the local communities.
  Part of the team is international, some team members coming from Italy, relocated here, working to improve the welfare of the animals.
  
  Also, we are drafting programs to help the communities nearby have a better management of their dog and cat population through educational programs, free of charge spay and neuter campaigns, first aid treatments for their animals in need and many other programs and projects on going.

  You will be able to be part of a multicultural team (romanian/italian mainly) and you will learn everyday new things about animal care, welfare and shleter management.
  
  Our shelter is situated in a remote area outside the town, in the middle of vineyards, very close to the Danube river as well. There are plenty opportunities to travel and have a taste of the Romanian culture in an unique area - Dobrogea - which is known to be a mixture of cultures and minorities, with many ancient greek fortresses.

  Aide

  We are looking for enthusiastic animal lovers to help us with the maintenance work and general activities that come up, especially in the stable areas. We need people to help with brushing the donkeys and horses, help with the cleaning when employees are fewer, get involved in the maintenance activities like helping at repairing the fences or stables.
  
  We have a big field, a big farm area for horses and donkeys that needs constant care and improvement. Our donkeys are rescued from different difficult situations, some are very old and they need special care.
  We care assure you that donkeys will make you fall in love with them quickly.
  
  If you are passionate about cats and dogs also, you can help in your spare time with socialization of cats or walking the dogs. You will receive the needed training and guidance from our welfare team before hand.

  Hébergement

  Free accomodation in a shared 2 or 3 room apartment - each room has a separate entrance, 1 bathroom and 1 kitchen with wi-fi connection and cable tv, in the town of Cernavoda at 10-15 minutes away from the shelter.
  
  Transportation from and to the shelter will be covered by us in a shared car with other employees or volunteers.
  
  Depending on our funds we can cover partially the cost for food supplies per week (around 70 euros). Food can be purchased easily from town where there are big supermarkets with plenty of vegan options as well.
  Regularly we have shared meals in the shelter with all the employees.

  Most of our team likes to spend time outside, travelling to the seaside which is 45 minutes away by car or to Danube Delta area which 2 hours away by car.
  There are multiple train options to reach the capital city Bucharest only 1h 40 min away by train or Constanta city which 1 hour away. You can also find a direct shuttle bus to the airport from the town of Cernavoda (2 hours directly to the departures gate).
  
  Bucharest is a city for everyone, we like to call it like that, as you can find your ways around since there are plenty of options and you can have a city break easily during the weekend.
  Seaside is very friendly, with many beaches for all the different tastes either if you for quite or party.
  
  There are wine tasting sessions around the vineyards, music festivals at the seaside or in Bucharest. It depends on each one, but boredom is not a thing you will meet here.
  
  In the days not friendly to stay outside because of the weather, we like to meet for dinner and play boardgames together or cook together a shared dinner.
  
  We really like to keep our team close and we are a family here.
