Hi! We're a Mexican-American family of 3 looking for help with our daughter, Lila, in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. She loves to dance, cook, paint, and be outside—all the usual fun toddler activities. We're looking for someone that has experience with toddlers who is very engaged and active and "teaches" through play. Ideally, someone that speaks Spanish and English (Lila understands and speaks both, but definitely speaks more Spanish). She normally would go to a Waldorf preschool, but my husband is diabetic and we have to be extra cautious about covid, so we also need someone who will take all the precautions seriously. There are a few other parents interested in having their children in a small group rather than school, so if you're interested in working with 3-4 kids we can talk about that - you would be paid for the extra kids.
We (Noel and Rachel) have the restaurant (and a cookbook! The Native Mexican Kitchen), but it's closed due to covid. We're hoping to reopen when things are steady again. Until then we're focusing on private group experiences (cooking classes, mezcal tastings, etc).
Todos Santos is a Pueblo Magico, 1 hour north of Cabo San Lucas, and 1 hour from the beautiful beaches of La Paz. It's a small, fairly quiet town, but there are plenty of activities to partake in during the high season (Nov-April): surfing, sea turtle release, yoga and art classes, farmers markets, salsa and Spanish classes, art walks, etc etc. All within a couple of hours drive we have: whale watching, snorkeling with sea lions and whale sharks, kayaking, mountain hot springs, and a biosphere reserve. Todos Santos is a hub of organic farming too - we have no shortage of organic veggies and you will never have tasted fish as fresh as it is here!

Noel is a wealth of information on Mexican culture and cuisine—especially indigenous culture. He loves to talk about native philosophy, the history of Mexico, and it's current issues. You can also learn how to cook traditional Mexican dishes with him (we have a very popular restaurant/mezcaleria in town and just published a cookbook, The Native Mexican Kitchen. Our restaurant is closed for now, but we cook at home). You can practice your Spanish or English with us, and Noel will gladly teach you Mexican slang (possibly the richest slang of any language!). Mezcal is our passion, so we will of course fill your head with the wonders of this agave distillate.
Rachel spent years moving and working around the world, and has loads of stories to share.
Todos Santos is a very friendly place, and you'll have the chance to meet lots of other people as well. It's a solid mix of Mexicans, Americans, and Canadians - and even a few Europeans and Argentinians.
We'd like someone that is very engaged and active (no screen time) and confident with children. Ideally, someone that has experience teaching toddlers (or for this age, teaching through play), and has a strong level of Spanish. Your hours would most likely be 9am to 1 or 2pm, 5 days/week. There are several other families looking for the same thing and we're thinking to put 3-4 children together in a small group. If you're interested in this, you would be paid by the parents of the other children. There's also likely to be babysitting jobs for us for pay. We also need someone that will follow covid precautions (wear a mask in public, etc).

Your own bedroom in our house. Shared bathroom, kitchen, and common spaces (living room and backyard). We live walking distance to a gorgeous beach that stretches for miles, and walking distance to the grocery store. The town center is a 15-minute bike ride away. Swimmable beaches require a car (unless you're a keen cyclist), but you'd be able to borrow ours sometimes.
We have 2 dogs (mostly outside, but the little one comes in a lot) and a cat.
Surfing, yoga, art classes, meditation, whale watching, snorkeling with whale sharks and sea lions, long walks on the beach or in the desert hills, hot springs, kayaking, biosphere, horseback riding, fishing...
Regular buses are available between Cabo, Todos Santos, and La Paz. There are only taxis within Todos Santos, but it's a small town, and very doable by foot or bike.
