    🌱 A Simple, Self-Sufficient Life in Sisaket

Hi, I’m Nok. I’m a Thai pharmacist living in the Netherlands, but I grew up here in Sisaket, in the northeast of Thailand.

Even though I now work and live in Europe, my dream has always been to create a peaceful retreat in my hometown—a place that’s simple, self-sufficient, and shared.

This land is my family’s, and my mother still lives nearby. She sometimes comes over to water the plants or check on things, but please understand: she is not staff. She has her own life, and this project is not her responsibility. That’s why I ask everyone who stays here to be independent, responsible, and fair.

This is not a resort, not a homestay, not a free stay. It’s an ongoing experiment in community living. The question I’m exploring is: “Can a small community thrive if everyone gives as much as they take?”

🛠 How It Works – 2 Weeks Stay

    1️⃣ Week 1 – Assigned Project
    • Everyone receives a specific task/project from me when they arrive.
    • You can work at your own pace, but it must be completed within the first week.
    • If you need more time, you must let me know.

    Examples of projects:
    • Clean animal shelters (ducks, geese, sheep)
    • Fertilize or plant new trees
    • Weed the garden in specific areas
    • Simple DIY work

    2️⃣ Week 2 – Rest & Responsibility
    • No assigned project.
    • Just keep the place clean, take care of yourself, and respect the space.

This way, everyone contributes meaningfully, and the project continues to grow.

🗑 Waste & Toilets – Please Read Carefully

    🚮 Garbage
    • Our area is outside city infrastructure—no regular waste collection.
    • I now hire someone to collect trash, but until then, you must keep it tidy and sealed.
    • Never leave garbage for my mother to handle.

    🚽 Toilets
    • We use a septic tank—it cannot handle toilet paper.
    • Do not flush paper, and please don’t leave piles of used paper in the bathroom.
    • In Thailand, we use a water spray (bidet gun) to clean—it’s more hygienic and solves the waste issue.

If you expect Western-style toilets with cleaning staff, this is not the place for you.

💡 What I Expect From You
    • Be independent and responsible.
    • Finish your assigned task in Week 1.
    • Respect the house, animals, and land.
    • Clean up after yourself—don’t leave mess for others.
    • Be fair: this project survives only if everyone gives back.

    🌏 Why Stay Here?

✔️ You want to experience rural Thai life.
✔️ You believe in sustainability and fairness.
✔️ You enjoy working with nature and animals.
✔️ You’re looking for something deeper than just “a free place to stay.”

❌ If you want comfort without responsibility, staff to clean up after you, or a resort-like stay—this isn’t for you.

    💌 From the Heart

This project started with just me—one person funding and dreaming of a simple life. But it’s slowly growing because of the kindness, hard work, and shared spirit of those who have come here.

Every tree planted, every shelter built, every small act of care adds to its spirit. If you stay here, you’re not just a guest—you’re part of the journey.

    Let’s build something meaningful together.
