Description
About the place
A few years ago I started this project building a small cabin in the pine forests near Siguatepeque, Honduras (in a village called El Achiote). Along with the help of some locals and Workawayers, over time, it has become a peaceful little retreat in nature.
The cabin has a large deck with a beautiful view of rolling hills covered in pine trees. Siguatepeque is located in the center of Honduras and is connected by the CA-4 highway that links several Central American countries.
The house itself is finished, but as with any place in the forest, there are always projects to keep it looking nice and improving the property.
Current projects at the cabin
Right now the main tasks are:
• Re-varnishing all the wood (floors, deck and some exterior wood)
• Helping with fencing — either installing a fence or assisting with simple brick/block laying if you have experience
• General outdoor maintenance and small improvement projects
These tasks are perfect for individual Workawayers who enjoy hands-on work and being outdoors.
Creative bonus: If you are artistic, there is also a small bathroom that could use a nature-inspired mural (muted jungle tones). If that interests you, feel free to share examples of your work.
New project: neighboring land
Recently the empty plot next door was added, which will slowly turn into a small nature garden space. This is a blank canvas, so it’s a fun opportunity for creative people.
Some of the things I’d love help with:
• Landscaping ideas and basic work (raking, shaping spaces, planting trees)
• Someone with an architectural eye to help design how the space could be organized
• Building a small pond with a deck area
• Planting many trees and creating natural paths
• General ideas to make the land feel like a peaceful tropical garden
For this project I’d especially welcome couples, since it involves more planning and teamwork, but individuals work fine too.
The experience
This is a quiet nature spot rather than a busy hostel. It’s ideal for people who enjoy:
• forests and hiking
• simple outdoor projects
• creating something with their hands
• relaxing evenings on the deck with a great view
Meeting point will be in San Pedro Sula

You’ll get to experience a bit of relaxed Central American living here — sunny days in the yard, time on the deck, the plunge pool, and peaceful forest surroundings.
If you’d like to practice Spanish, I’m always happy to help. We can practice in the evenings while hanging out. I also love sharing recommendations for some of the best places to visit in Honduras.
If schedules align and we have time, we might even go on a small adventure together — maybe waterfalls, kayaking on a lake, or a trip to the beach.
Weekends are completely free for you to explore. Around Siguatepeque you’ll find a few nice local swimming pools just 5 minutes walking, and a small river/creek about 10 minutes away.
If you want to explore further, Honduras has some amazing spots such as:
- Tela for beautiful Caribbean beaches
- Río Cangrejal for rafting and adventure
- Pulhapanzak Waterfalls near Lake Yojoa
- Lake Yojoa for kayaking and nature reserves
- The Bay Islands (Utila or Water Cay) if you want to see the Caribbean side of the country
When we’re around the house we can also keep things simple and fun — board games, card games, Netflix, good conversations, craft beers, maybe a little rum, and plenty of laughs.
And if you feel like teaching me one day a dish from your country, that would honestly make my day. 😄
Aide
Siguatepeque is a newcoming city which is growing at a fast speed recently, the center counts with multiple cafes, small restaurants like forno pizzerias, good sushi and good food, great supermarkets and lots of lovely spots. The tiny home site is located in a village called Achiote, 7 minutes drive from the main road and like 15 minute drive to the city center of Siguatepeque, a bus runs down and up to the center every couple of hours, in the city center there is everything.
Bear in mind that the place is not a touristic hotel/lodge, that there is no other "staff" involved .

Hébergement
What you’ll find here:
You’ll stay in a cozy cabin with comfortable bedding and a fan for the warmer afternoons. I provide a basic breakfast budget for the week, and lunch on working days. There is also a fully equipped kitchen that you’re welcome to use anytime for your own dinners or weekend cooking.
The property is designed for relaxing and enjoying nature. There’s a beautiful fireplace area, an outdoor kitchen, and a large yard surrounded by pine trees. The place has two cabins (one larger family cabin and a smaller guest cabin), electricity, water from a tank and rain collection system, and solar outdoor lighting.
On sunny days you can cool off in the small plunge pool, and in the evenings you can relax with good Wi-Fi, a projector with a big screen, TV, board games, or simply sit outside and enjoy the incredible starry sky — the nights here are amazing.
Weather:
Siguatepeque has one of the nicest climates in Honduras. Days are usually warm and sunny (around 29°C), sometimes with short tropical rains during the rainy season. Nights are cool and fresh (around 8–20°C), which makes sleeping really comfortable — and good blankets are provided.
Getting here:
The easiest way is to contact me a few days in advance so we can coordinate. We can either meet in San Pedro Sula and travel together to the cabin, or I can send you the directions and we meet directly at the property. Just send me a message and we’ll figure out the best plan.
Autres infos...
Things you can do on your own: hikes around the area, follow up the creek, explore the city center which would be a hitchhike away or a chicken bus away, you can kayak on Lago de Yojoa 45 minutes away from San Pedro Sula or 30 minutes away from the cabins site (and the nice Pulhapanzak waterfalls), also Rio Cangrejal, which is in a jungle area and you can river raft there, 3 hours away from San Pedro sula and 20 minutes away from the ferry spot in la Ceiba where you take the Utila island ferry
