  • Description

We already have help taking care of the children and the housechores for the foreseeable future.

FOR THIS WINTER: We really need a STRONG person who can help us do manual tasks such as gardening, shoveling, building things, and carrying sand, rocks, etc.

    About us:
We are a family of 6 living together on our two acres property in the middle of the forest. I, Julia, live with my husband Roland and my 2 sons Liam (3 yo) and Santi (7 yo). Annette and Claus, my in-laws live in their house just up the hill. And then we have the tree house for our workawayers, which is now occupied by Maude who's been living with us for the past 6 months. We eat all meals all together :)

We are five minutes from the beach and if you like nature, we have lots of flora and fauna around us. Our house is 100% on solar energy and we are very committed to the environment. On our island there are no roads. You can only move around by boat or by walk if you want to go to a nearby town. The dominant language spoken on the island is English, followed by Spanish.

We are very flexible and easy going family and at home we have a lot to do (gardening, house maintenance, taking care of my sons, recycling projects and many other things).

I am a Veterinarian and in 2022 I opened my vet clinic. I am always welcoming help with my clinic and in taking care of the animals :)

Roland is a cabinetmaker and a professional bird guide and many times he finds himself giving a tour and it is impossible for me to do everything alone, this is why help is very useful.

I am originally from Guatemala and my husband and in-laws are Germans. We all (even the kids) speak fluently German, Spanish and English.

We are from different nationalities and we live in an Island with beautiful places and the most wonderful people. We can help you strengthen some languages that we know, exchange cooking recipes and visit all the natural attractions.

If you love bird watching this is a perfect place for you.

Guanaja is a gorgeous island. If you are looking for a quiet place to live surrounded by trees, waking up with the sounds of the Yellow- naped parrots and have a good time enjoying life with us, this is the right place for you.

It depends of the time you will come, usually I give the treehouse for accomodation but staying in my house is also an option.

In your spare time you can go sea kayaking, hiking across the island, camping, snorkelling, visit the city (The Cay), go to waterfalls and the beautiful beaches around.

Guanaja is a great place if you like a quiet island pace. It's not a very populated island and this is why it's like paradise here!

An important fact is that Guanaja Island is the farthest island of the Bay Islands and therefore the transportation to get here is more expensive than to the other islands. The available transport is watertaxi and it’s a little expensive. Please consider this information. Once you're here, if you want to travel around the island we can share the water taxi cost.

Another important thing is that we have sandflies on the island. Please bring light pants and long sleeves to wear :)
