    Description

Please note that I will only respond to messages from people who have read my profile and feel that this specific house and dog sitting opportunity is a good match for them.

Welcome to my home on the beautiful Isle of Lewis!

I live in a friendly village just a 10 minute drive from Stornoway, the main town on the island. There are regular daily buses into town (except on Sundays), making it easy to explore if you don't have your own transport.

My home is in a wonderful location, right beside open moorland where you can enjoy peaceful walks and, if you're lucky, spot deer. If you visit during the summer, you'll see the heather in bloom, turning the moor into a sea of beautiful purple. The area is dotted with lochs, and just two minutes away by car is a lovely stone beach where you can walk, relax or even swim.

The Isle of Lewis has so much to offer. The ancient Callanish Stones are only 15 minutes away, while Stornoway has a great selection of cafés, restaurants and shops. You can also explore the beautiful grounds of Lews Castle or enjoy the scenic coastal walk from the castle at Cuddy Point. If you'd like to venture further afield, the spectacular white sands of Luskentyre Beach on the neighbouring Isle of Harris are less than an hour away by car. My home is an ideal base for exploring the island, including the stunning beaches at North Tolsta, Garry Beach and many of the beautiful beaches along the west coast.

I share my home with two young Labrador Retrievers who are incredibly friendly and full of enthusiasm for life. They love joining me for walks on the moor and are also trained therapy dogs. Together we regularly visit the local hospital, schools and college, where they bring comfort, companionship and plenty of smiles to people of all ages.

I'm looking forward to welcoming Workawayers who enjoy the outdoors, appreciate island life and would like to experience the unique beauty and slower pace of the Outer Hebrides. I hope you'll feel at home here and enjoy everything this special part of Scotland has to offer.

Initially, I prefer to arrange a stay of one week or less so that we have the opportunity to get to know each other and ensure we are a good match. My dogs are very important to me, so it is essential that I feel confident they will be cared for with kindness, patience and responsibility. If the initial visit goes well and we are both happy with the arrangement, we can then agree a longer stay while I am away.

Before contacting me, please take the time to carefully read my entire profile to make sure that my home and the experience I offer are a good match for you.

I am looking for someone who is genuinely interested in a quiet island lifestyle, caring for my two Labrador Retrievers, and experiencing life on the Isle of Lewis. This is a very specific type of Workaway experience, and I would appreciate messages that show you have read about my home, my dogs and my expectations.

When contacting me, please tell me a little about yourself, your experience with dogs, why you feel this placement would suit you, and what interests you about coming to the Isle of Lewis. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Please note that this is a specific house and dog sitting opportunity. I am looking for someone who will enjoy caring for my two Labradors and my home while experiencing the peace and beauty of life on the Isle of Lewis.

Please take the time to read my full profile carefully and make sure that this is the type of experience you are looking for. I will only be able to consider messages from people who feel this opportunity is a good match for them.

Staying with me is an opportunity to experience everyday life on the beautiful Isle of Lewis, rather than simply visiting as a tourist. I'm always happy to share my knowledge of the island and to recommend some of my favourite places to visit, from hidden beaches and scenic walks to historic sites and local cafés.

Life here is closely connected to nature. Whether it's walking across the moor with the dogs, watching the changing seasons, spotting wildlife or enjoying the peace and quiet of island life, there's plenty to experience.

I enjoy meeting people from different countries and backgrounds and believe that cultural exchange is about learning from one another. I look forward to sharing stories, meals and conversations, while also learning about your culture, experiences and way of life. My hope is that you'll leave not only having explored the island, but also feeling that you've experienced genuine Hebridean hospitality and made lasting memories.

The help I'm looking for is house sitting and caring for my two young Labrador Retrievers when I'm away. They are friendly, affectionate therapy dogs who love people, enjoy long walks on the nearby moor and, of course, plenty of attention and cuddles! Previous experience with dogs would be an advantage, and I would like to welcome someone who is confident, kind and genuinely enjoys spending time with my dogs.

    Hébergement

You will have your own comfortable double bedroom for single occupancy in my cosy bungalow, with access to the shared bathroom, kitchen and living areas, as well as the garden. I want my guests to feel at home and enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere during their stay.

As my home is quite small, I'm only able to accommodate one Workawayer at a time. The only exception would be a parent travelling with a child, who would be very welcome.

To ensure a comfortable environment for everyone, my home is strictly non-smoking. I kindly ask that smokers do not apply, even if you only smoke outdoors.

I am a pescatarian, so the meals I provide are vegetarian or include fish. I kindly ask that guests do not bring or cook meat in my home. Thank you for respecting my home and my lifestyle.

My home is an ideal base for exploring the Isle of Lewis while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of village life. I hope you'll feel comfortable here and enjoy sharing my home with me and my two friendly Labrador Retrievers.

Please be aware that life on the Isle of Lewis is very different from life in a city or busy tourist area. Where I live is a remote and peaceful village, and the pace of life is very slow. There is no pub in the village, and evenings are generally quiet and relaxed.

My home is also a calm and quiet place, so this experience is best suited to someone who enjoys nature, walking, reading, relaxing, spending time with my dogs and appreciating a slower way of life. If you are looking for nightlife, lots of entertainment or a busy social scene, this may not be the right place for you.

I also do not drink alcohol and prefer to share my home with someone who is comfortable with this lifestyle. I am looking for someone who enjoys real-life experiences, conversation, nature and exploring their surroundings, rather than spending their free time gaming, online or scrolling on devices.

Stornoway, which is only around 10 minutes away by car, offers a livelier atmosphere with cafés, restaurants, shops and places to meet people. I hope to welcome someone who will enjoy the beauty, quietness and unique character of the Outer Hebrides.

My home is a wonderful base for exploring the Isle of Lewis and neighbouring Harris. On your days off, you can enjoy walks across the moor, visit the many beautiful beaches, explore the historic Callanish Stones, discover Lews Castle and its grounds, or take a day trip to Harris to visit the spectacular Luskentyre Beach. There are also plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching, photography, swimming and simply enjoying the peace and beauty of island life.

A car is the best way to explore the islands, although there is a daily bus service between my village and Stornoway (please note there is no Sunday service).

My home is a relaxed, friendly and respectful household. I ask guests to treat my home, my dogs and my neighbours with kindness and consideration. Cleanliness and tidiness are appreciated, and everyone is expected to help keep shared spaces clean.

As mentioned elsewhere in my profile, I am a pescatarian, and I kindly ask guests not to bring or cook meat in my home. My home is also strictly non-smoking, so I cannot accommodate smokers.

Most importantly, I hope you'll enjoy your stay, feel at home here, and leave with wonderful memories of the Isle of Lewis and the people you've met along the way.

Living in Scotland means that we all try to use resources thoughtfully. Electricity in Scotland is expensive, so I would appreciate it if guests could be mindful about switching off lights and appliances when they're not needed and avoiding unnecessary energy use.

When you message me, please include the word ‘Hebrides’ somewhere in your message so I know you have read my profile.

Digital nomads are welcome, provided that any remote work fits around the agreed Workaway hours and responsibilities. I understand the importance of having uninterrupted time for work, and I'm happy to discuss a routine that works well for both of us. Please note that, as I live in a rural area, it's important to have realistic expectations about internet speeds and mobile phone coverage.
