Description
Hello wanderlusters! We're all currently very much missing travel to foreign lands I'm sure but with the world beginning to reopen again, hopefully that will all change soon.
Ever since my first visit to India in 1992, i've always thought the world would be a much better place if every human being had the opportunity to travel and witness how other cultures and traditions can enrich all our lives.
I've recently bought a finca (estate) in Tarragona, Spain. It's predominantly an almond farm with around 250 trees set on 15 acres of terraces. But I've also got some olive trees scattered around the land. I find it serenely peaceful up here, surrounded by all of nature.
The nearest village is about 2km away. Yyou can see it from up here, in the pine forests just on the verge of Parc natural dels Ports, a beautiful national park.
I've been working towards transforming the finca's almacen (tool shed) into a little off-grid retreat for myself, my family and friends to enjoy. -

There's a national cycle route that weaves it's way through the area, the "Via Verde". It uses the old railway track that used to run through this breath-taking region of Catalunya.
Horta Sant Joan and Gandesa are the two nearest and larger villages. There's a bus station in Gandesa. And the old city and port of Tortossa and a host of beaches, is just half an hour away.
Working up here would give you an insight to life on a rural farm in Catalunya, Spain.
I could show you the simple process of harvesting the almonds and life around the local area. There's a Picasso museum in Horta Sant Joan as he used to come and paint here in his youth. Gaudi went to university in Reus near Tarragona city. Both about an hours drive away. -

I will need to harvest the almonds during the month of September. So i'm looking for 3 or 4 people to help me do this over a few days. It's physical work but rewarding. I harvest the almond fruits (yes it's not a nut. It's a fruit!) the traditional way. With nets and poles for literally hitting them off the branches.
There is also building work to do around the casita. I'm digging out foundations for an extra room and want to build a patio too.
I can pay you the Spanish minimum wage. Teach English if you like! There's a guitar here and mountain bikes for exploring the woods and getting to the surrounding villages. -

Hébergement
I've got a lunar bell tent that can sleep up to four people. I've a mix of mattresses and bedding. With a little alfresco kitchen on decking next to the tent. It's humble but set against a moonlit starry night sky it's a special connection to nature and the universe.

Autres infos...
There's quite a bit you can do from here. Horse riding through the Terra Alto area. Amazing cycle routes through the national park. Culturally we have Tarragona city and Reus. And some amazing beaches on the coast like Cambrils, Salou and L'Hospitalet.
