In Izmir:
Our village near Çeşme aims to become a self-sustainable village where we live together as a big family, with Turkish people, volunteers from all over the world, and Syrian families coming to participate in the projects.
We currently have 3 programs:
°Education Village where refugee women and their children come to learn solar engineering, and women s health in order to become financially independent and facilitate their integration into Turkish society.
The volunteers' job is to help around in the village :
- With the field: our permaculture work is in progress
- Care with the animals: we have sheep, chickens, cats and dogs
- Building new spaces to host refugee women, their children and the volunteers
- Cleaning, to maintain our living space (as you would do in your house ;)
- Take care of the children if you have specific skills (yoga, language teacher...) or if you speak Arabic or Turkish
°Working in the refugee camp which we visit two days per week. We distribute food, clothes, baby diapers, hygienic articles to them. We also have a mobile education project which is about teaching the children in the camp Turkish, some basic exercising, caring for their hygiene and more.
°We also distribute food, water, baby diapers, etc. to refugees that have been caught trying to cross the sea to Greece. We are called by the military when this happens, and it can happen at any point during the day.
/!\ The Village is not a refugee camp!

In Gaziantep:
We just opened a community center near the Syrian border. Help is needed to take care of the children while their mothers are in class. Since the office has just started, the activities are still limited (workshops on soap and candle making). There is two permanent members in Gaziantep.
°As it is a women center we, unfortunately, cannot accept men volunteers.
°We would prefer volunteers with experience with children and over 20 years old.
°Accomodation is provided.

Izmir village
If you choose to stay with us instead of an alternative place you will stay in the Village, 3 km away from Çeşme, together with volunteers from all over the world. It is a self-sustainable village and we live together as a big family. We eat mostly vegetarian meals which are served three times a day. Besides that, there is free filtered water, coffee and tea all day. Volunteers live together. Showers and toilets are shared. We have washing machines if you need that. Unfortunately, we cannot let you live in the village for free as it costs a lot to pay for water, electricity, food, etc: we do not earn money and the donations go to the refugees... We ask you to pay a certain amount based on how long you will stay with us, between 5 and 10 euros.
Days off
Hours are generally from 9:30 to 12 then 2 to 17. The refugee women and children are here for 10 days. We go to the illegal settlements Saturdays and Sundays. Thursdays are off, more half a day in the week. The province Izmir and Çeşme is a touristic area. There is plenty to explore. You can eat ice cream in Çeşme, spend your day at the beach or go on a trip to nearby places (for example Ephesus, Chios, Alacati, Pamukkale, the ruin of Troy, etc.).
