Welcome to the Village
Imagine waking up in a small village surrounded by nature, spending your morning in a woodworking workshop or garden, sharing lunch with people from different countries, and ending the day together as the sun goes down.
This is - Village.
We are not simply looking for volunteers to complete tasks. We are looking for people who want to live, learn, create and share as part of a community.
- Initiative has been working since 2014 to create spaces based on solidarity, empowerment and sustainable living. Today, - Village is one of these spaces — a place where volunteers, local people, disadvatages women and children come together to learn from each other and create something meaningful.
🏡 Life at - Village
Life is simple, communal and connected to nature.
You may spend your morning working with wood, helping in the garden or improving a shared space. You may learn about sustainable technologies, create something with your hands, organize an activity with children, or bring your own skills and ideas to the village.
We eat together, work together, learn from each other and share everyday life.
Our activities change according to the season, the needs of the village and the interests and skills of our volunteers.
🔨 Create
Our wood workshop is one of the heartbeats of the village.
Volunteers can help with woodworking, sanding, assembling and creating handcrafted wooden educational materials and other useful items. You don't need to be an experienced woodworker — curiosity and willingness to learn are more important.
🌱 Grow
We are developing our ecological and agricultural areas and continuously working on our relationship with the land.
Depending on the season, volunteers may help with:
gardening and planting
soil and agricultural work
permaculture activities
composting
maintaining ecological spaces
developing new ideas for sustainable living
☀️ Learn
- has a long-standing interest in renewable energy and practical sustainability.
If you are interested in solar energy, sustainable technologies, construction, woodworking or ecological solutions, there are opportunities to learn and share knowledge with the community.
🎨 Share Your Skills
One of our favourite things about volunteers is that everyone brings something different.
You might bring experience in:
art
photography or video
music
social media
education
cooking
gardening
construction
woodworking
renewable energy

sports
or something completely unexpected!
If you have an idea for a small project or activity, tell us. We love when volunteers bring their own creativity to -.
👩👧 Community Activities
On weekends, disadvantages women and children from the communities we work with visit the village.
Volunteers may support creative, educational and playful activities for children while women participate in workshops and community activities.
These moments are an important part of the - experience: sharing food, playing, creating, talking and getting to know one another.

But if you want to slow down, meet people from around the world, learn practical skills, experience village life and contribute to something meaningful, we may be a very good match.

🔨 What might you help with?
We plan our activities together with volunteers every week.
There is no fixed list of identical tasks for everyone. Activities change according to the season, current projects, the needs of the village and — importantly — your own interests and skills.
You may help with:

Sanding and preparing wooden materials
Helping in our woodworking workshop
Producing handcrafted educational and Montessori materials
Building or repairing useful items for the village
Sharing your own woodworking or craft skills
🌱 Gardening & Permaculture
Planting and caring for vegetables and plants
Supporting agricultural and permaculture activities
Working with soil
Developing and maintaining ecological spaces
Creating and maintaining compost areas

Improving shared village spaces

When women and children visit the village, volunteers may help organize:

We are always open to new ideas.
If you are a photographer, filmmaker, artist, musician, designer, teacher, gardener, builder, cook, social media enthusiast — or simply someone with a good idea — tell us what you would like to create.
We don't expect you to arrive with all the answers. We are interested in what we can create together.

Hébergement
You will stay at the Village, surrounded by nature and away from the noise of the city.
Accommodation is provided in the village.
Life here is communal and simple. Volunteers share the experience of village life, common spaces and meals while also having their own time and personal space.
🍲 Food
We provide three meals a day.
There is a €10 per day contribution for food, which goes towards the cost of the meals provided to Workawayers. -

Izmir is a city that has hosted many communities throughout history, so you can visit many ancient cities and settlements where different cultures come together in the vicinity. When the appropriate time is created, your volunteer coordinator can give you a mini tour :)
