Description
Welcome as a volunteer in my home ! I need help with general maintenance, renovation and gardening in a nice house with swimming pool located in Nimes, close to many cultural and nature spots.
I am a paediatrician, specialized in child neurology and working in Nîmes, at a private practice. I work a lot outside home but sometimes I work from home. Generally, I am not much at home during the day.
My ex-husband was swedish, that's why we all speak swedish and english, as well as french at home. We lived in Sweden until 2010. As I work a lot, and have 2 dogs to take care of, I need help with my big garden (3000 m2) and house. I have a project to transform a part of the house into a wellfare center for children during 2024 and will need some hands to help with this transformation. My youngest son, Wilhelm (23) does not live at home any longer. He lives in Le Pontet, close to Avignon and works as a riding teacher in a UCPA owned riding school. He comes to visit us regularly, so you will probably meet him. My 2 other children: Alix (19) studies in Montpellier but comes back home during weekends and holidays; and Maxance (29) is living at home after having spent several years in Sweden. Maxance is handicaped with a neurocognitive and neuromuscular disease. He cannot help us with any activity but takes care of himself and does not need help with daily activities.
This year, I need help with cleaning the garden, but may also,need help with taking care of the house, like cleaning or ironing. I can also need help with painting or renovating rooms in the house. As I am working all day, you must be prepared to work alone after receiving instructions.
We eat organic and most of the time vegetarian food. We are used to food allergies, so it is no problem for us if you need special food.
i practice a lot of meditation and spend sme time at a buddhist tempel every month. You might want to follow with me if you can and are interested.
We are very curious about foreign cultures and love exchanging about many different subjects. We have had many successful workaway experiences and would love to continue receiving people from other countries as a substitute for traveling. We prefer to receive couples, if possible, but accept single workawayers as well. A minimum of 2 weeks stay is preferred before short stays.

Dear volunteer ! We are a French-Swedish family living in a nice house located 15 min by walk from the center part of Nimes in Languedoc-Roussillon (Occitanie), Southern France. We would like to share our french and swedish cultures with you and learn from your culture, while getting some help from you refreshing some parts of the house (painting, arranging what needs to be arranged, cutting hedges, general seasonal gardening, planting shrubs, repairing broken parts of the house, giving us ideas...etc !).

You will have acces to your own bedroom with bathroom in a separate little house in the garden, just by the swimming pool. We will share the rest of the house with you, in which you will be welcome and in which the internet access is easier.

We live in one of the most beautiful parts of France, with perfect climate, good food, easy going people, cultural spots spread around, nature (Camargues, Cévennes), 3,5 hours from Spain and Italy by car, 3 hours from Paris by train, 3 hours from mountain areas, 30 minutes from the mediteranean sea, 40 min from Pont du Gard, 20 minutes by walk to the best preserved arenas of the roman empire...etc. Many festivals can be found all around the year. We love our region and would be delighted to help you discover it !
