Description
The Comox Valley is mid-way up Vancouver Island - about 1.5 hours from the Nanaimo ferry terminal, and about a 3.5 hour drive north of the city of Victoria. Throughout the spring and summer, we're often looking for help with a range of projects include gardening, making compost, trail maintenance and fence repairs. Someone with carpentry skills would be particularly welcome!
We offer comfortable private accommodation, practical hands-on training in compost and compost "tea" production - AND an opportunity to learn about some of India's traditional Vedic practices. FMI, check out "How to make Amrut Jal to Enrich Soil" on YouTube. It's just one of the ways our non-profit helps people learn about life in the soil and ways to improve fertility and produce healthy, resilient plants.
The Tsolum River's just across the road. There are several beautiful trails within walking distance - and lots of beautiful hiking and walking trails up at Mt. Washington, Paradise Meadows and other parks that are not too far away...Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Here in the Comox Valley, there's a thriving & diverse agricultural community and weekly farmers markets. The I-Hos Gallery, an initiative of the K'ómoks First Nation, is open to the public and has on display a collection of masks, prints, jewelry and wood carvings from over 50 talented First Nation artists.
We have lots of interesting stories and photos to share that highlight the areas, cultures, traditional farming practices and people we work with in India - and we can help you make connections with organic farms, tea gardens, NGO's and other kindred spirits in Assam. We're particularly interested in introducing people from the Indian diaspora to some of the "movers and shakers" in the northeast part of the country!Aide
There are always things to do at main house and in the workshop. This might include interior and exterior painting, and help with a few carpentry tasks - basic carpentry skills would definitely be an asset. And if you enjoy cooking and/or baking, that'd be an added bonus!

The Comox Valley is located on the east side of Vancouver Island - about a 5 hour journey from the city of Vancouver (including a 1 3/4 hour long ferry ride!), and about 2 hours from Powell River. There are several nearby islands also accessible by ferry, and lots of walking, bike-riding and hiking trails.
We're a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Tsolum River where you can cool off in the summer and watch the spawning salmon in the fall - and a 40 minute drive from Mount Washington, Strathcona Park and Paradise Meadows which provide a number of outdoor recreational opportunities.Informations complémentaires
