And I am verry glad She and my assisting farmer (I had surgery so had a hired worker to replace me for 6 weeks) got allong so well. It seemed like they had some fun together.

I stayed at here for about seven weeks and definitely enjoyed it. There was another girl at the farm at the same time and as we are both quite introverted, got along well and lived in the extra house I guess we often stuck to ourselves. I did enjoy the meals in the afternoon together with the family and occasional card games with Victoria though.
… read more They were all really nice, always showed us that we are welcome, took us on a boat trip and shared their german-norwegian easter traditions with us which was great. We also both enjoyed working alongside Dagmar's father who helps caring for the sheep.
Workwise it was mostly the same tasks every day although a couple of things changed as spring arrived. So it was bringing the ponies in and out, mucking out the stables, feeding all the sheep, horses, chicken and cats, counting goats and walking with some of the ponies.
Sometimes there would be extra tasks like helping to share the sheep, packing wool, moving the rambs and stallions outside or the ponies up to the mountains and painting. I just sometimes wished that these tasks would have been a bit more well coordinated as often things would start later than we were told so we'd sit around and wait for them and with some tasks we also didn't feel like there were actually as many people needed as helped so you'd kind of just stand around. Some days it was more work and sometimes less so in the end about five hours a day seems right.
Although we didn't work directly alongside Dagmar because of her injurie it was inspiring to see how well she knows every single animal, knowing all their names (and there's a lot of them) and celebrating birthdays of sheep.
In the afternoon there was usually enough time to go for walks (and the area really is stunning), go out on the fjord with their rowing boat, swim in the fjord or just sit by it and watch the sun go down which I can only recommend.
All the animals are really cute and even (most of) the sheep and goats love to get cuddles.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Because I have more experience with horses I got the task to take care of the ponies. I helped during the wintertime, so my tasks where: getting the ponies in and out, mucking out the stables and give them food and water. Because I have some horseriding experience the daughter and I made a lot of trips with the horses in the area when the weather allowed us to and it was more than amazing! I just could be the total horse girl I am!
It is purely physical work so it's handy to be fit. However you get enough breaks and the days where not as long as I expected. Most days you work from 9:00 till 16:30 including a lunchbreak.
Because I stayed a longer period I was allowed to take two days off each week. Those days I was able to discover the beautiful area where Dagmar lives. The farm is already at a beautiful place so you don't even have to search for beautiful views. Seriously: each single day I was blown away by the beautiful surroundings around the farm.
However, I was able to hike at my days off. It is already possible to hike a beautiful trail close to the house, but by bus I was able to reach a lot more trails. The whole family helped me with planning those small trips and I have seen the most beautiful things ever.
So without any doubt I would recommend to stay with Dagmar!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I stayed from August till November with this great family and learned a lot!
Dagmar is an amazing woman, so patient with the people around her, always seeing the good in them and never resentful.
Her way of working with her sheep really inspired me and I had the pleasure to help her with sheep shaving where she thought me a lot about them!
During
… read more the change from summer to winter I had a little struggle to keep up with the routine, mostly 'cause the new things were barely explained to me. But after some asking I joined in again.
In my freetime I could go for walks with the ponies whenever I wanted, cuddling the sheep, cats and horses and joining the family to every event they were going to (like going on a breeding show and riding lessons of the daughter).
I usually worked from 9-12 or 14pm, after lunch from 12/14-16pm and after dinner sometimes one more hour to turn down lights and feed.
The tasks varied from summer to winter.
Summer: giving hay to the ponies and brushing them, mucking the paddock, filling up waterbuckets, letting out the two chicken, cleaning sheep shit, going on walks with the ponies, collecting berries and plums, cutting sorrel and thistels.
Fall/winter: mostly feeding all the horses and sheep inside and outside with hay and silage, bringing the ponies on their fields, mucking the boxes, feeding again, getting the ponies back from their field. It was a lot of bad weather so no many outside activities.
I mostly worked more than 5 hours but that was okay cause I think one could have done the work in 5 hours.
Their lovely daughter spent a lot of time with me what I really enjoyed. She helped me in the stable, brought me to walks with the ponies on the mountain, spent the evenings with me watching movies, playing card games and doing tiktok dances. We had a lot of fun!
Tu put it in a nutshell: I learned a lot, especially about the norwegian way of doing things.
Thank you guys for letting me being part of your family and making so many memories.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

It is long overdue that I should write my feedback for Dagmar (and her family and farm). I stayed with Dagmar for four weeks in September and I can hardly describe how special this experience has been. Dagmar's farm is a special place in the way she cares for and knows all her animals. My first two weeks were more relaxed, we checked on all the
… read more animals every day, prepared the stables for the winter, and set out new fields/fences. We also went on a hike in their 'back garden' mountains, as I like to call them, looking for the sheep and cows which roam there freely.
And wow, they live in such a beautiful area. You have an amazing view on the fjord from the house and you have access to the woods and the mountains directly from the farm, following the trails only of the cows and the wild deer. The last two weeks were a bit more hectic for the family which gave me a bit more responsibility and tasks to do all by myself. But for me, personally, this was no problem at all and gave a great feeling of trust. This fits with how I was welcomed and included from the very first beginning of my stay onwards. Dagmar, her boyfriend, daughter, and also her father, who lives next door, are all very kind, open, and generous people. I really felt like a part of the family. I was also included in all activities, such as the farmer's market, the art exhibition, the breeding show, and the lovely boat tour to the island where a friend of theirs lives.
I mostly worked Monday to Friday, having the weekend for myself but as the public transport is limited (does not run on weekends), it was no problem to go and see a nearby town on a weekday. The work itself is, of course, physical but it is not too heavy. Some days there is more to do than others but it was all honest work with things that needed to happen every day (checking and counting the animals, cleaning the stables, feeding the chickens, etc.) and other tasks (setting out new fields/fences, moving animals to new fields, repairing stuff etc.) but also plenty of unexpected thing (animals escaping, neighbours who want to spray their fields, calving cows, etc.), as well as taking part in the household activities (grocery shopping, cooking, washing, etc.) but every day was wonderful.
All the animals have such an amazing life on Dagmar's farm and most special for me were the births of three calves during my stay. It is most memorable to have witnessed their births and cleaning the stables for these lovely little calves and their mothers.
I can go on and on about my experience on the farm as for me it was such a special experience. Dagmar, her family and her farm have a special place in my heart and I miss them, the nature, and the animals (especially the calves) dearly. I will definitely come back to this place as often as I can.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Dagmar is a really nice person. I stayed at her farm for 2 weeks in the beginning of March. She did her best to make me feel comfortable and I think she was really nice to talk to. … read more Viktoria was also really kind, smart and polite. We played a lot of card games with her. I must say that I personally didn't feel very welcome by the other people of the family.
It was hard for me to find the pleasure in the work we had to do in the stable. Maybe that is a personal problem for me but I don't feel that the work we had to do was fun. The daily chores contained cleaning a lot of horse and cowstables. In the 2 weeks I was there we also cleaned the sheepstables on 2 different days. Those 2 days we were only cleaning the sheepstables, nothing else. I had the feeling we were doing mainly the dirty tasks and I'm not really sure what I gained from that. It would have been nice on those days if she would have made it more clear that she was grateful for the work we did. I got insecure after some days because had the feeling I did a lot wrong. I did not get so much explaination about the chores from Dagmar. I understand that I should have asked but I felt insecure to ask. I never had problems before with asking for help but I think I felt maybe a bit uncomfortable at that time.
I'm sure if you are the right person you can have a great time at this place but I think this wasn't the best experience for me.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

My friend and I left the farm with mixed feelings. We stayed for almost two weeks and got to know the family. We also got to celebrate the 17th of May with them and got invited to church and the festivities. Which I
… read more appreciated very much! Thank you for that.
But I can't help but feel a little uneasy about the work we had to do.
Shovelling animal dirt is absolutely normal on a farm. But that was our main task for the whole time we spent there. We didn't really do much with the animals at all.
I felt like the jobs we did were things no one else wanted to do. Like all the dung was left in the stable for us to clean out, as soon as we arrive.
We did not get a clear "Thank you for your work" once, which rubbed me the wrong way and in hindsight made me a little uncomfortable.
What I also found a little odd was that they started eating a meal without me since I'm a vegetarian. The information that they hadn't cooked for me came a little late. My friend was already invited to the table whilst I was left in the kitchen. I had to prepare my own meals, which is absolutely fine, but I wish someone had told me earlier. I felt a little left out at that point.
But the food situation improved after a few days. They invited me to go shopping with them, so I could choose what to eat. I am very appreciative of that.
All in all, it was a mixed experience. We had wonderful moments with the open fire on the terrace and their daughters birthday party, lots of card games as well as a newborn foal, but also the things I mentioned above.
I think it depends on the time you arrive at the farm. Since it was warmer, there was not much to do with the animals as they are all outside in the fields. I think you may have more contact with them in winter/spring.
Still. Thank you very much for accommodating us and inviting us into your home. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape and especially the ponies!
Kind regards

… read more the whole family. I met there a girl from the Netherlands and we had such a great time together.
I’ve gotten a good feeling of what living and working on a farm means. You could really see how much Dagmar loves her animals.
I stayed in a small private room in the house. Our days started at 9:00 am with feeding the sheep, horses and goats. After this, we cleaned the stable. In the afternoon we had to feed the animals again. In the first three weeks one extra task was to check the animals on the fields after lunch break and later, when the cows came back out of the mountains, we had to clean the cow stable as well. From time to time we had to fix and collect some sheep fences.
I really liked the work with the animals. But there were some things, that could have been different. For example, we both had not had one day off in the whole time (one month). We were not even offered to having a day off as long as the other person is working (as it stands now on the profile). We asked once for a day off that we could drive to Førde. It was no problem, but after we returned at 3PM we had to clean the whole stable and to give dinner to all the animals. When the cows returned, we had more to do and then, it was every day the same, no variety. Normally, we worked 6 hours a day, 7 days a week. But it was really often, that the days were longer than just 6 hours. And it was supposed to be 25 hours a week, we normally worked more than 42/45 hours a week. I also wished, that I had learned more. Sometimes the communication was not so good (How should we know what to do when no one tells us?)
The time at the farm was okay for me, not that bad, that I wanted to leave earlier, but it wasn’t my favorite host.
But still, I wish Dagmar all the best for the future and I miss all the animals. It was good to learn what I really want.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

We really enjoyed our time in Gryta and we can clearly recommend dagmar as a host!

I had a wonderful month stay with Dagmar, Stein-Torald and Viktoria. Dagmar absolutely loves her animals and I really enjoyed learning about everything that goes into caring for them. You definitely have to love animals and being out in the country, but if that is you this is an amazing and beautiful place to be. The jobs are a workout, with

The family likes you to be a part of them and we shared all meals together. Viktoria will always be recruiting you to play cards, if you know any new card games she will be eager to learn. I got to know Dagmar's father while I was there, and he took me hiking up the mountain behind the farm, and also to check out the neolithic rock carvings nearby. We celebrated Carnival during my visit and I had a lot of fun with the dancing and festivities. Thanks for a fantastic time all around!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I stayed on Dagmar's farm for one month and it was great.
It was my first workaway and farm experience and I'm really glad I had it in this beautiful place ! All of her animals are so loving and friendly (a special mention to the goats, you'll see them around all the time, always wanting a little rubbing on their head ;-) ), it's really nice to be

As it was my first time on a farm, it was a bit physical work for me but it felt so nice to work with your body the whole day ! Great workout all the time :-)
Since the weather was crazy nice, we also went a couple of times swimming in the sea water and even had a little boat trip, which was very cool.
The family is also very nice and funny too, and you'll have a special card game teacher just for you (takk for det Viktoria :-) ).
Så, takk for allt alle sammen og jeg håper å komme tilbake snart !
Klem fra Olivia :-)Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I spend almost four weeks at Dagmars place and I had a really nice time.
Dagmar and her family are nice and open people, you can have a lot of fun and nice conversations with.
While my time at the farm, there were also other volunteers, so the work didn't took us to long. But even if you are alone, the work isn't to hard. It's mostly feeding the

I enjoyed the beautiful surounding, the sunsets over the Fjord, the work with the animals (eventhough at first I was a bit afraid while working with all the animals, but they are all really nice), the snow, being outside a lot, game evenings and driving the "Quad".
I also had the chance to see some norwegian Christmas traditions, eat traditional food and see the norwegian style of live.
If you like animals and don't mind to work outside no matter what weather, you will have a great time here. I can surely recommend this place.
Thank you again Dagmar!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Dagemar and her family was kind, humorous and sweet! She has already met some volunteers and she has guest book. Before I went there, here was no feedback so I had no expectations. But I can say here is NICE. Nice host and beautiful scenery.

Dagemar told us clearly what we should do in every morning, so there was no misunderstanding.
We spent 3times happy birthday together in short times. Eventhough she must have been tired to organise parties, but she always smile and nice to me.
When I was at home, I usually played with Vicktoria, her daughter. She was sooooooo sweet and friendly. And also I went hiking to pick the cloud berries, blueberries!
I've already miss her and family and animals and Norwegian air!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
