I stayed 2 weeks with this amazing active family. I really enjoyed my stay there, and I would recommend anyone who likes to socialize and immerse into Irish culture. Indeed, we went many times to the pub which was amazing, with proper Irish vibes and live music. We also went to see a hurling game, which was really fun to watch. The farm is

During my stay, my 'job' consisted of making bee frames, painting bee houses, cutting the grass, picking up potatoes, cooking (which I happily volunteered to do) and taking care of the shelter of the animals. The task is not difficult and Chris is very chill and flexible and very understanding.
During my stay I was also teaching French online, as the schedule was very flexible, there was no problem for me to do that.
It's a young family, very open-minded and active. I got along with everyone and felt comfortable among them at all times.
I couldn't recommend enough to have this experience in the beautiful West of Ireland with this family! Thank you all again for everything Chris, and I am looking forward to visit you all again in the future! 😊

Great experience!
Gonna miss the food - including honey from Chris's bees and eggs from the farm!
Work was varied and satisfying- getting stuck in with gardening, woodwork, powertools, leafblowing (so fun!).
Room was massive and bed super comfy.
Chris and the family are so welcoming - I immediately felt at home.

Exciting!
Living here for 4 weeks has been a wonderful experience for me. Full of surprises and surrounded by a family of sound people who are eager to exchange their cultures. We’re not talking about an ordinary
… read more family, but rather a multicultural and genuine family, influenced by Dutch and Irish traditions. I was astonished by the hospitality and the easygoingness of Chris and his relatives (brothers/parents), they’re used to welcoming a lot of people, no doubt about this!
Chris's projects are riveting and still need to be pursued. Therefore, I was glad to be part of it. Helping out Chris to achieve his own goals was rewarding. As soon as you catch the smile on his face or our laughs, you know it's worth a shot! Each week was a new adventure, and it’s nice to thrive in a fresh atmosphere where you can try your hand at new activities. During winter, our main task focus on building all the different parts of the beehives, as well as refurbishing some room of the house (a wonderful/tremendous/full of history house by the way 😊). Even if sometimes we (volunteers) weren’t able to follow perfectly Chris's guidelines, we always manage to understand each other, simply by asking him how it works.
Anyway! Thank you so much for this ground experience and your hospitality.
Hope to see you again when its getting hotter (Chris, Mathian, Neal, Maria, Harry, and Rowen).

Maja is truelly a remarkable person. Her ability to adapt to any situation and her focus is something I have never seen from a workawayer before. She was also able to handle alot of responsibility and took on a management role among the other volunteers.
I would highly recommend Maja as you won't regret having a person like her at your place!

My stay at Chris' farm was amazing. My plan was to stay three weeks, finally I stayed 2 months and even then it was hard to leave. Chris is patient, funny and friendly, he creates a peaceful and a
warm atmosphere throughout the farm. From working in the workshop, watering flowers, cooking lunch for everyone, cleaning up the polytunnel over
… read more painting the fence was everything always fun and in good agreement.
We listened to music while we worked, ate lunch all together, and could always ask Chris about everything . He was always very flexible and generous with extra requests and tries to make sure everyone is as comfortable as possible.
It never gets boring, in the evenings we often all went to the pub together, to the lake and over the WE we sometimes made trips.
I stayed with a few other volunteers there and it was like a family over the weeks.
It is just a wonderful place to have a good time with nice people. I can recommend it to everyone to work there.
Thank you Chris for the weeks. I learned a lot and will miss you.

Working with Chris and co. was a blast. A really cool, rural area of Ireland. Work was varied and interesting, and there was plenty of time to explore. There were a few other volunteers there with me, and we were able to take a couple of day trips and even visit the Cliffs of Moher. Also got to go to a local harp festival.

It was my first workaway experience and I only got to stay for a short while due to COVID, but it was a great time either way and I wish I could have stayed longer. I was looking for a genuine, meaningful work and that is truly what I found! It was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t imagine a better host. From the first second on, I felt welcomed and the whole family was very warm-hearted and caring. I agree on every point in Emilys feedback here from 2018: every member of the family is individual

I just stayed for one and a half week but I learned so much about sustainable, conscious living, healthy eating, working in general and the importance of family. You are not just a simple worker here, you are a friend.
The work is never too hard and Chris gives you insights in all his various types of work so that every day is different. Most interesting was feeding the bees and building frames. And I will never forget the stunning view from the top in the Burren and dancing in the kitchen to „Major Tom“. I really enjoyed my stay and would like to thank you all for the great, fun time with a lot of good laughs and inspiring talks. Rock 'n' Roll 😉!
I would recommend staying with Chris and his family to everyone. You won’t regret it!

Staying at the House means finding the genuine heart of Ireland, a corner of the country full of once-in-a-lifetime days disguised as a morning planting tomatoes, an afternoon of lost hours among the chickens, an evening swallowed by sawdust in the garage, midnight playing soccer next to the garden under Ireland's neverending sunset.
My time at
… read more these farms was exactly the kind of workaway experience I was looking for, one that marries culture with unique work and genuine friendships. You are never simply a worker but a part of the team, as such there is not a typical schedule but every day looks different for you. The tasks vary from helping to mix cement to working the farmer's market to checking up on the beehives to harvesting the polytunnel, and so much more that it is impossible to get bored. The days can be long but they are broken up by breaks for a slice of the famous homemade bread or a chilly swim in the lake or a cuddle with the dogs. The days off are flexible and everyone's needs or requests are respected. Finding friends in the other volunteers meant the work was never a chore, and we were able to pass our free time in the beautiful surrounding region taking walks or exploring, and maybe visiting the chocolate company across the street one or two times...
The farm in the Burren is such a treat to get to experience; working or relaxing among such unspoiled nature and history - and clusters of endearing goats - will sneak Ireland right deep into the precious parts of your heart. All the tea and biscuits at the coffee shop will help with that as well :)
Stepping into the main farm you become lost in the countryside, swept up in the rolling hills and quiet breezes - save the occasional chatter of the geese or lonely church bell - but stepping beyond there are all the comforts of a small town, including a shop, a bus stop and a pub. Spending time with the local community having a pint at the festival or meeting regulars at the market really decorated my time with authenticity and just plain good times.
I think I owe more to this family than all my hours of poorly tied onion bunches could repay. They truly cared that I found what I was looking for here, and never allowed me to believe that I wasn't capable of everything they put in front of me. Chris has such a sincere joy for honest work that you will be more eager than you thought possible to help him nail a hundred bee frames together, or meticulously measure a gutter, or weed nettles at noon under the unprecedented Irish sunshine. Maria has an inexplicable combination of warmth and tenacity that will humble you and inspire you all at once, and she will share with you lessons and conversations you won't be able to shake. Harry's ever-present smile, generosity and gentleness are infectious and pure, and you will never feel so welcome as you are in his home. Matjan is the reason you will find yourself dancing like a crazy person in the kitchen at 1 am or laughing to burst at the dinner table. The whole family invites you wholeheartedly into their life and if you are given a chance to meet them, I suggest you take it.
Thank you for everything ! : )Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
