    Goats, Chickens and Cows

Volunteering in livestock programs in Arusha offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with local farmers and pastoralist communities while contributing to sustainable agriculture and food security. Livestock—including cattle, goats, sheep, and donkeys—play a central role in rural Tanzanian livelihoods, providing meat, milk, labor, and income. As a volunteer, you may support daily animal care, assist with health checks, improve feeding practices, or share knowledge on sustainable farming methods. In return, you’ll gain firsthand experience of traditional livestock-keeping techniques, local culture, and the vital connection between animals and community well-being. This exchange fosters not only improved agricultural outcomes but also lasting relationships and mutual learning between cultures, helping build a more resilient and self-sufficient future for the communities you serve.
