    Description

our name is Silje and Jim Ove, We live in northern Norway, about 3.5 hours drive north of Tromsø in a valley called Reisadalen. Here we have a farm with 18 Alaskan huskies, 1 house dog, a cat and two guinea pigs. we are training for dog racing.
We live in Escenic surroundings with many great hiking opportunities right outside the door. We are looking for a person who is responsible, positive, love animals and outdoor life and are independent. its also good if you have some practical skills. We can offer a place to live, food and many exciting outdoor activities.
its also necessary to have a driving licens for car, because we live 10 kilometers from the city center.
the work on the farm consists of feeding the dogs, helping with the dog's training, cleaning and repair of the equipment for the dogs. And some help in the house.
we have 3 children. the children are 5, 7 and 15 years old. we also often have friends and family visiting us, so its important that you like to be around people, children and animals. We have a big house and it will be good space for you.

In the summer from may to september It can be hot so the dogs can not be exercised a lot. We exercise as often as we can when the weather allows. When it's too hot, we have different projects that have to be done. such as building dog houses, maintenance of sleds, wagons and equipment. We sometimes also need help with washing and tidying up in the house.
somethings to do in your spare time in the summer:
riverboat safari in the national park. fishing. hiking to various sights in nature. enjoy the midnight sun. sit outside and have a fire and enjoy the nature.

In the fall and winter from September to May, we train the dogs a lot. then the job will be the most about dog training, feeding, cleaning of dog houses and shoveling snow. also some cleaning in the house.
winter is a hectic time for us. We therefore wish that those who want to be here in the winter can be here for at least 2 months. because it takes time to get acquainted with the dogs and we do not have the same amount of time to educate people with the dogs in the winter as in the summer.
somethings to do in your spare time in the winter:
snowmobiling, ice fishing. go on the snowmobile on the mountains to ice fish. enjoy the northern lights. hiking to various sights in nature. moose safari. sit outside and have a fire and enjoy the nature.

The dogs eat a lot of bones and meat so if that is a problem for you to handle meat and blood you wold have a hard time here.

We generally want the person/personens who will be here, can stay at least 1 month. in the winter time at least 2 mounths. Much of the job is about taking care of the dogs. it takes time to get to know the dogs. And get used to routines, tasks and how everything works. The most important thing for us is the welfare of the animals.
