    Description

Are you interested to work with guests in a remote and beautiful resort in the south part of the Yukon? Come stay with us and experience the Far North - enjoy breathtaking views and be part of a small team that thrives to offer best service to our guests from near and far!

Uniquely situated on the shore of Tagish Lake, the resort has 8 guest cabins, all of them have lake view, and we welcome people from all over the world.
There is 1 main lodge with a restaurant and bar/lounge as well as outdoor patio.
The cabins are scattered along the lake shore, with the furthest being approx. 150m away from the main house (you'll get some exercise!)

We are located about 1.5hours from Whitehorse, at the end of a 13km gravel road - so you are fairly remote, yet connected with the "outside".

We offer free accommodation and $ 17.00 pay for each hour of work (above the Yukon minimum wage). In addition, you may receive surcharges for overtime and public holidays as specified in the Yukon.

You'll have the chance to meet a lot of new and interesting people. You'll experience first hand our famous Northern Hospitality and can be a part of it. The longer you stay, the more you'll learn about this unique area, where caribous walk through the backyard (bears might too!), the neighbours' horses pop in every once in a while and local fishermen stop by with their boats on a Sunday ride.

You'll have the chance to look a professional chef over his shoulder and have the opportunity to learn from hospitality professionals.

Also, you'd have time to roam the vast trail system and get to know the Northern Forests. We teach you about bear safety and about the rest of the abundant wildlife in our area.

Southern Yukon is rich in local aboriginal culture and we'll teach you how to use their land respectfully.

There also are canoes and kayaks on the shore of the lake, free for you to use. We will teach you safety and handling of the watercraft. Once learned, you can also give instructions to our guests who want to rent a canoe for the day.

If you proof responsible and skilled, you might also be able to drive a small boat and go fishing if you like. Here as well, we can teach you everything we know (there is A LOT of fish in our lake - just gotta know how to get them!).

Even though remote, the resort has a few neighbours and we are a small community, consisting of dogmushers, welders and trappers, you likely meet and have a chat with over the summer.

And the view never gets old!!!

  • Aide

    Aide

Even though it's a resort/lodge, we are very small and personal. We are looking for help with the guest cabins and for the restaurant.

You will work and live in a beautiful surrounding and you'll also meet many new people, guests from overseas and from within Yukon.

Once you are familiar with the place and procedures you could help with service in the restaurant, preparing breakfast and other help in the kitchen and some housekeeping (cleaning cabins and restaurant, doing laundry). During the summer it might also be landscaping and in winter snow clearing. As I mentioned before, we are a small Resort, everybody helps everywhere.

We will spend time training you and you can acquire useful skills in the hospitality industry.
Preference is given to workaways who stay 3 months minimum, as it'll take you a while to get used to the setting and how things work. Many of our workaways choose to stay longer - up to a year or more.

If you are someone who can busy yourself during time off and if you don't mind being away from city life for longer periods, this might be the right place for you.

Bring work clothes for outside and one set of nice clothing for interaction with guests. And for the winter you would need warm winter clothing.

Drop us a note if you want to learn more!

2 furnished rooms available in the main house, showers on the same floor. Your room has views onto the lake! Accommodation is free for workaways.

Staff mostly eat together, if possible. The food you'll enjoy is very nice and restaurant quality. Since you are paid for every hour you work, you either pay a small contribution for food or you buy your own groceries.

Southern Yukon is a great place to be in the summer and in the winter.
During your free time make sure to spend as much time as you can outdoors, as this is just the place to be for that!

During the summer you can go hiking, canoeing or jogging. There is also some fitness equipment available.
You can use the canoes and kayaks we provide for our guests.
There is a huge trail system you can go for hikes or climb the impressive mountains in our vicinity and enjoy the views of Tagish Lake and the Coast Mountains or just relax and bask in the sun.

In the fall & winter time, you can see the Aurora Borealis from this place really well!

During the winter you can go snowshoeing (snowshoes available) or skiing (you would have to bring yours) and join us on a trip with the snowmobiles. You can even see the Northern Lights from your room.

Always be aware that we live in bear country and that the resort is 13km from the next paved road!
We will teach you about bear safety and you can borrow bearspray from the Lodge if you venture out to explore. For longer outings into the bush, we require there be at least 2 people for your own safety!

The community along the lake is small but a happy crowd, with dogmushers being our next door neighbours, there is never a dull moment. You do need to be able to spend your freetime on your own and enjoy being by yourself at times.

    Public transportation is very limited.
If you do not have a car, there are occasional opportunities to travel to Whitehorse with one of the staff for a day.

To get you to the site initially, we likely will pick you up in Whitehorse.

Do you think you’d like that?
If you want to know more we are happy to give you more info.
