Hi there! We are Marco & Michael – two friends brought together by a passion for nature, outdoor living, and meaningful connections.

Our friendship started back in 2017 at the University of Pisa, and since then, we've been sharing adventures, skills, and a deep love for the simple, authentic things in life.

Marco is a linguist, English and Italian teacher, and digital nomad. During weekdays (afternoons), he works remotely, but outside of those hours, he's always ready to get involved, connect, and contribute. With a love for languages, storytelling, and cultural exchange, Marco enjoys bringing people together.

Michael is a skilled herbalist, gardener, farmer, and beekeeper. With years of hands-on experience, he's passionate about working with plants, sustainable farming, and natural remedies. Whether it's tending a garden or caring for bees, Michael is always happiest when connected to the earth.

We both share a deep interest in Scandinavia, its culture, and its breathtaking landscapes. Our dream is to live in a non-urban environment, surrounded by forests, lakes, and wildlife, and be part of a community that values simplicity, sustainability, and close contact with nature. The aim is to live off-grid in the nearest future.

Together, we love hiking, fishing, camping, and exploring the outdoors. We are down-to-earth, reliable, and curious, always seeking new ways to learn, help, and create positive exchanges with people and places we meet along the way.

We believe in sharing our skills, respecting every environment we step into, and embracing the beauty of slow, mindful travel.

Ten weeks with these two was such as blessing! Warm personalities and so reliable – after a few weeks they knew the farm and the tasks needed to be done so well that we could leave the farm for a weekend, with them taking care of the whole site. Well, let's start our tale from the very beginning.
We spent our first Workaway experience in Norra Dylta, at Hanna and Folke's eco farm, from the 3rd of July until the first half of September. We remember very well the day we landed in Sweden, since our credit cards were not working and we had no money to buy our train tickets. Folke noticed that we were not coming and wrote us asking the reason of our delay...but when he relized we were in trouble, he didn't think twice and picked us up at Skavsta airport (2 hours away from his house). So, if you are wondering whether joining this place and these people it's worth it, our answer is just one: YES!!!
In our lives we have never met knowledged, kind, funny, and uncommon (in a good sense) people like them. If you happen to live in that house for a short or long term, be sure that they will treat you as their sons or daughters, and not as strangers!
During our stay we met other workawayers and we became a big family...in August there were 6 of us, all coming from Italy ahaha unbelievable!
We totally agree with Johanna, the workawayer that wrote the previous review "Overall it was a amazing experience and all that remains for me is to say thank you for the wonderful time".

ABOUT DAILY TASKS:
Flexibility is the key word in this place, for you organize your working hours every day/week. We were helping from Monday to Friday, from 8.00 to 13.00 so we had time enough to plan our afternoons. Tasks were of different kinds: we started with cleaning a building that was used to keep sheep, then we distributed the hay on the soil (as part of our permaculture project), and we also lifted the barn up, in order to reinforce its structure. We won't list all the tasks, because they were so many, but we just wanted to show you that there was a wide range of things that needed to be done. So, if you are not strong enough one day, you can always ask to do something else. They care that you do not overdo!!!!
We would also like to say that working here is not just working, but planning, thinking and discussing what to do. In our last days we started a very interesting project about turning a 1,2 hectare field into a productive land, where plants, bees and animals give their big contribution one another (it is called Holistic Management).
Hanna is very experienced in the matter of ecosustainability and she can give you very useful tips for the everyday life...like KOMBUCHA!

PLACES AND NATURE:
Close to Norra Dylta there are two nice cities that you guys must visit: Orebro and Nora. But we are pretty sure that you also chose Sweden for its natural landscapes. You won't be disappointed!!! We got the chance to visit the Varingen Lake area, having a two-days trekking and camping there. Fishing is possible with no license only if you know someone who owns a land through which flows a river, otherwise you have to pay. Instead, picking some mushrooms and berries up is totally free. We loved this experience in Sweden and we will come back for other adventures!
