Hello! My name is Signe, and I love traveling and exploring the world. To me, traveling isn’t just about seeing new places- it’s about understanding what it means to be a part of the world we share. I’m an adventurous, hardworking, and creative person who enjoys learning about different cultures and connecting with people.

I’m from Seattle, WA, USA, but I’m currently on a gap year after completing my second year at UBC in Canada. During this time, I want to challenge my Western worldview, grow personally, and immerse myself in new experiences. I’ve been figure skating for 14 years—while I’m retired from competing in synchronized figure skating (look it up!), I love coaching and working with children.

I have previous Workaway experience in Chile and Portugal and am now looking for opportunities in Southeast Asia. My past hosts have described me as reliable, proactive, and adaptable :)

I am a very detail oriented, organized and creative person that is willing to take initiative. Here are some of my skills and experiences:

- Ice skating coach of individuals of all ages, especially beginners from 3 years old to adults.
- Previously, Interned with Save The Children - Fiji and visiting local communities.
- Worked as a cashier and consignment curator at the UBC thrift store.
- Served residents at a retirement home for three years, honing my customer service skills and building relationships.
- Paid summer intern at Amara, a local foster fare center.

I am a very thrifty and resourceful person when it comes to all facets of my life and prefer to learn various skills independently. I embrace learning and lending a hand especially when it’s not always asked. My upbringing at a Montessori K-8 instilled in me a valuable sense of team work and self discipline. Additionally, I have gained various volunteer experience through Workaway such as hostel work, farming, domestic help and various other jobs.

I posses strong digital literacy and am well versed in social media marketing. During COVID I ran an online clothing store through Depop which involved sourcing, advertising, and shipping clothing items.

I love animals and a huge part of what I enjoy about traveling is being around other forms of life that are not only human. While cats have a special place in my heart, I enjoy all life!
