Hello potential hosts and fellow Workawayers! As of the time I'm writing this description (November 21, 2023), I am new to the Workaway community but very excited to try it out. Right now, I'm finishing up a seasonal job in a vineyard, and before jumping into a full-time job, I'm hoping to travel and challenge myself by traveling solo and becoming acquainted with lifestyles and perspectives different from my own this upcoming January. Over the past few months, I've had the opportunity to practice Spanish with many of the Mexican workers who work alongside me. This has revived a desire not only to keep practicing but eventually master the language, which I haven't used regularly since high school classes. Thus I am reaching out to hosts in Spanish-speaking countries!

As far as what brings me happiness, anything that involves music and/or movement generally fits the bill. Hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, and pretty much any sport that involves throwing and catching are all things I enjoy greatly. I'm an amateur guitar player and singer and attend as many live music events as possible. Small, local shows are the best.

My internship in the vineyard, which I started in June, has taught me that I am much happier spending time outside, at least for a good portion of the day, as opposed to a standard desk job. While I am no expert in carpentry or gardening or any of the many skills I've seen reqested by hosts, I will work hard (physically and mentally) and learn as much as I can in the time I am with you, and get as dirty as the job demands!

I am looking forward to connecting to hosts and workawayers alike in the coming days.

¡Hola a todos los anfitriones y otros miembros de Workaway! Ahora, mientras escribo esta descripción (21 de Noviembre, 2023), yo soy nuevo en la comunidad de Workaway pero estoy muy emocionada de probarlo. Ahora, estoy terminando un trabajo estacional de viñedo, y antes de meterme trabajo de tiempo completo, quiero viajar y desafiarme y familiarizarme con perspectivos y estilos de vida diferentes este próximo enero. En los últimos meses, yo he tenido la oportunidad de practicar el español con muchos de los trabajadores Mexicanos que me acompañaban en el trabajo. Esta ha revivido un deseo no sólo para seguir practicando pero eventualmente, dominar la idioma, que no he usado hasta las clases en la escuela secundaria. Y así yo quiero llegar a anfitriones en países hispanohablantes.

Lo que me trae la felicidad es cualquier cosa que involucra la música o el movimiento. El senderismo, el ciclismo, la escalada, el esquí, y casi cualquier deporte que involucra lanzar y recoger todos son actividades que disfruto mucho. Soy guitarrrista amateur y cantadora y atento tantos eventos de música en vivo como sea posible. Eventos pequeños y locales son los mejores!

Mi pasantía en el viñedo, que comencé ene Junio, me ha enseñado que tengo mucho más feliz cuando paso tiempo afuero trabajando, por lo menos para una buena porción del día, en lugar de un trabajo de escritorio. ¡Mientras no soy una experta de la carpintería o la jardinería o ninguno de muchos de las habilidades que menciona los anfitriones en Workaway, voy a trabajar duro (físicamente y mentalmente) y voy a aprender todo lo que puedo en el tiempo que estoy con usted, y ensuciarme tanto como el trabajo exige!

The prompt for this section says to discuss my "expertise." I wouldn't consider myself an expert in anything!

I attended college and earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, which taught me how to approach different types of problems, mainly. I am decently tech savvy and if you need help on the computer I am more than happy to give it a shot.

This past 6 months I worked on a farm scouting pests and diseases and crop thinning, sampling, and harvesting. This was with wine grapes, however, so most types of plants will be new to me. Although I'm sure there are similarities!

As far as building goes, I am able to assemble furniture and use common power tools. I'm in relatively fit condition and can handle most physical tasks you have for me.

I would consider myself a people person and can be social with customers if the situation demands it! I have also coached girls' basketball so have experience working with kids.

Most importantly, I think I will bring an open mind and positivity to any home that I have the opportunity to visit!
