Hello! My name is Alex and I'm a searcher. For the past nine years, I’ve taught ESL (English as a second language) globally in five different countries: Turkey (Istanbul, Gaziantep), China (Wanfeng), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City), and Ukraine (Kyiv). That said, this coming September (2024) I'll be moving to Hungry (Central Europe) to start a new teaching job. Traveling to various locations internationally and meeting new people is what drives me.
Anthony Bourdain once wrote, "Travel isn't always pretty. You go away. You learn. You get scarred, marked, and changed in the process. It even breaks your heart."

I recently embarked on an incredible adventure by volunteering at a charming hostel in heart of Bosnia.
I was excited when I arrived in Mostar as this was my first time volunteering at a hostel. I arrived at 04:00 and Fedja was waiting at the door to give me a friendly greeting. At that moment, I felt right at home.

Alex was supposed to help us with odd jobs for a week, but unfortunately we had to go to the Netherlands unexpectedly.
Alex had no problem eventually converting his half-day jobs into looking after our 4 cats and puppy. After returning I received a lot of help from him in the garden, but he does need good guidance.

I had a wonderful WorkAway experience with Raymond & Hinke. Both were extremely hospitable. I landed in Prague at 09:30, so Raymond waited for me at the airport. On the way back he picked up some tasty pasties. Hinke is a marvelous cook, therefore, she cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner for me often.
