I am New Zealand born, but have spent my life from babyhood in the UK. I have lots of family in New Zealand and I am planning a 10 week trip in early 2026, to visit my sister and many more family members. I would like to also experience some of the country in a slightly different way. Some structure for a few weeks, being able to contribute to an outdoor household, meet some other people - all these I would value.
My next door neighbour and friend here in rural England hosted workaways for a few years - I think that has given me a sense of how travelling in this way can work. We have many friends and family stay with us here too, I think I know how to be a relaxed and useful guest! In my twenties I spent 3 weeks in a WWOOFing setting with my then boyfriend- looking after ducks, chickens, sheep, milking goats and running the house while the 'host' went to America! I remember that experience as great fun. I am in my early sixties now, fit enough, no specialist skills to offer, but I think I am a good teamworker (I worked in mental health settings for many years) and willing to get on with any job needing doing, that is within my physical capacity. Gardening, the usual household stuff, some painting and decorating. I love swimming, and cannot wait to have a summer near the water in the depths of our UK winter.

I'm generally useful around a house and garden, and I like a bit of painting and decorating. I can take the initiative, but also happy to do as I'm asked! Having been living in our big house with too big a garden for 18 years, our boys growing up, family and friends moving through, I sort of know how to get on with things, but I cannot sell myself as having any particular extra practical skill. I like joining in and pulling my weight, and I need a bit of time and space to myself too.

I love scrabble - I'm an amateur potter - love film. I am a very sociable person, enjoying time to myself more and more as I get older, and I'm just starting to engage with Tai Chi.
