Hi! My name is Olivia, I’m an 18-year-old solo traveller with a big love for learning, meeting new people, and fully immersing myself in different cultures. I’m curious, open-minded, and always eager to get stuck into whatever work I’m doing.

I’ve worked in a variety of sectors including cooking, cleaning, and retail, which has helped me become adaptable, hardworking, and confident in new environments. I’m especially comfortable working with children and animals, both of which I genuinely enjoy and connect with easily.

Although this is my first time travelling solo, I’ve travelled extensively before with my mum, which taught me how to be responsible, flexible, and respectful of different ways of life.

I love learning new skills, helping out where I’m needed, and sharing experiences with the people around me. I’m excited to contribute positively, learn as much as I can, and make meaningful connections along the way!

I’m currently on a gap year after finishing college and before starting university in September, where I plan to study biomedical science. I grew up in a hands-on, family-oriented environment, with many of my favourite memories coming from cooking, gardening, and DIY projects with my grandmother, which sparked my enjoyment of practical, purposeful work. Being raised by a single mum gave me a close, supportive relationship and helped me develop confidence, independence, and strong life skills such as travelling, adapting to new environments, and cooking for myself and others. Alongside this, my work experience in cooking, cleaning, and retail has made me reliable, organised, and comfortable taking responsibility. I enjoy working with children and animals and am naturally patient and caring, and I love being outdoors and staying active through sports and fitness, particularly hockey and going to the gym, which means I’m well suited to active, hands-on tasks. I bring energy, warmth, and a strong work ethic and genuinely enjoy contributing to the everyday life of the places I stay.

I’m drawn to volunteering because I enjoy the feeling of purpose and want to immerse myself in the lives of other cultures and countries rather than simply pass through.
