Hi!
I’m currently travelling in the South Island on a working holiday Visa, and am hoping to find Workaways to help me get to know some different parts of New Zealand!
I’m a wildlife enthusiast and have previously worked as Assistant Ranger on the Northumberland Coast in North East England carrying out seabird monitoring as well as leading volunteers in practical tasks and habitat management such as fencing, tree planting, weeding, invasive species removal, and beach cleans. Prior to this role I’ve volunteered on nature reserves on the Isle of Coll and Handa Island off the West coast of Scotland where I lived and worked in small teams to carry out similar work.
I love getting stuck in with whatever tasks need done especially work outdoors, and growing up on a working sheep farm in Scotland I’m not afraid of getting my hands a bit dirty or working in cold or wet weather!
I love hiking and I’m also really interested in learning about the wildlife in New Zealand and would love some help getting to know some of the native birds and wildlife!

I have experience in using tools and machinery including building and repairing gates, fences, boardwalk, and removing invasive plant species, gardening.
I've also worked with animals including cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, sheepdogs, at home on my family’s farm, and handling wild birds on nature reserves, as well as trapping and predator control for seabird conservation.
I'm comfortable carrying out household tasks like tidying, cleaning, cooking, and I particularly enjoy baking!
