Hello! This is our first time using Workaway, and we're so excited to finally be part of the community. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, but the timing never quite worked out—until now. Together we've been fortunate to travel to over 15 countries, and through those experiences, we’ve developed a deep passion for cultural exchange, human connection, and stepping outside of our comfort zone.
Jessi:
What motivates me most is the opportunity to experience life fully—whether that’s through exploring new places, meeting people from all walks of life, or immersing myself in different ways of living. I thrive in community spaces—whether I’m helping build them or simply being present and supportive within them. I also feel most alive when I’m outdoors and active—hiking, exploring, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. Originally from Miami, I’ve always felt a strong connection to the water, and being near the ocean is something that instantly recharges me.
Lott:
I'm someone who has always been drawn to caring for others. All of my jobs have involved looking after people in one way or another, and being someone who others can trust is really important to me. I love meeting new people and building connections, especially when I'm traveling. Exploring new places and learning about different cultures is something that really excites me. I'm a big softie at heart, I adore animals and being outdoors. I enjoy hiking (as long as it's not too uphill), swimming, and more recently I've started to learn to surf- which has been a fun challenge! Creativity is a big part of who I am. I love art and anything that lets me be expressive, whether that's painting, crafting, or just getting hands on with something creative. Overall, I am motivated by connection, kindness, and trying new things that help me grow and enjoy life.
Now, as we move to New Zealand, we’re both looking forward to becoming part of the Workaway community—contributing, learning, and continuing to grow through meaningful experiences.

Que habilidades tienes?
We are super fast learners and open to trying just about anything! Part of the reason we are moving to New Zealand is to try out as many different types of skills as we can.
Lott- I have always worked within care settings. Previously I worked in a nursery and got my level 2 qualification. I was nearly complete with my level 3 when covid hit, leading me to wanting a new career opportunity. I decided I wanted to work in the adult healthcare setting, so for the past 5 years I worked with the elderly and adults with disabilities. I completed my level 3 and had further training so I could work with advanced and specialist conditions. For a short stint I became self employed and worked in the community as a PA. I would perform tasks such as cleaning, laundry, personal care, shopping for others, and dog walking. In my free time I would also help my mum at her allotment! I love being hands on and DIY, from building and decorating to building flat packs. I'm also very creative and love to paint and draw.
Jessi- I started my career as a middle school English teacher (ages 13-14) where I learned how to be flexible, how to think on my feet, and how to interact with people from all different backgrounds. I went on to get my Masters degree in Education and Social Change, where I learned how to have conversations about social issues and how to foster a community within new spaces. After COVID, I transitioned into a role outside of the classroom where I worked as a recruiter for an Ed Tech company. This taught me customer service skills, but ultimately made me realize that I don't want to work a desk job- instead I want to be active and be more hands on. I'm looking forward to trying new things and learning new skills!
