Hi hosts! I'm Isabel, I'm 28 and from England :)
I'm staying in Japan with a working holiday visa from August 2023 - August 2024 🇯🇵
A bit about me:
Education/work:
• I have a bachelor's degree in psychology
• I am a qualified TEFL (English language) teacher - I worked as an English teacher in South Korea
• I have worked at a nature school in England and as a personal tutor in Nepal
• I have some experience in hospitality - I was waitress in a restaurant and a cleaner/helper in a guesthouse
• I have a little experience in gardening, farm work and animal care
• I have done some voluntary work in the environmental sector and with vulnerable people
Hobbies/interests:
• Travel - I have visited 31 countries so far
• Hiking and mountaineering - in Nepal, I climbed a 6000m mountain in the Himalaya ⛰️
• Gardening, spending time in nature
• Photography
• Reading and writing
• Art and crafts
• Spirituality/eastern philosophy/Buddhism
• Baking
• Astronomy
• Learning languages
• Swimming and snorkelling
As a person I believe I'm easy-going, open-minded, respectful and reflective. I'm very grateful for my life and my freedom to travel. I'm an advocate for peace, equality and saving our beautiful planet. I try to live a simple life and keep stress to a minimum. I love learning and trying new things as well as meeting new people from different backgrounds and cultures and hearing their life stories. I work hard and play hard :) I work well both with others and independently and am not afraid to ask for guidance if I need it.
In Japan I'm interested in gaining more hospitality and NGO experience. I'd love to stay and help at a Buddhist temple at some point too.
My interests are very varied so I would be grateful for anything you can teach me or skills you can share with me! I really want to try Japanese crafts such as kintsugi, calligraphy and sashiko.
