Hi! My name is Haleh. I’m a recent grad hoping to see the world! I just finished my Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology, but am planning to go back to school after a year of travelling. During my gap year so far, I’ve had the chance to visit to some amazing countries across Asia and Europe, where I’ve shared meals with kind people, hiked to breathtaking views, and cuddled some adorable animals. But I’m really excited to try WorkAway for the first time to enjoy more slow travel — getting to know a region more intimately and contributing to its local community. I know my respectful curiosity, strong work ethic, and appreciation for people will be a good fit for WorkAway! I really enjoy cooking, especially in the presence of others, and am hoping to improve on my kitchen skills this year. I also love languages! I can speak conversational French and basic Spanish, but I always want to improve and add to my lexicon.
I’m also hoping to spend this year exploring more of my own country. I grew up in Ontario and went to school in Quebec, but I am so excited to discover Canada’s gems and experience the different lifestyles and perspectives Canadians have to offer. I’m a Leafs fan, but I’ll let you make fun of me for it! And the Blue Jays, but I hope we can agree on that one.
In my free time, I love to go on trail runs, thrift for great vintage pieces, and visit museums (from art galleries to tea museums, I enjoy them all). I grew up playing football (or soccer, as we call it in Canada), and also coached younger kids for many years. I have a lot of volunteer experience: in hospitals, shelters, food banks, etc. Community service is incredibly important to me, and I handle these roles with professionalism. I find thrill in fast-paced moments, but I also have so much gratitude for the little things.

I have a BSc and work in health research. I also am experienced with communications (written + graphic/social media). I speak English + French + very basic Spanish. Happy to help with tutoring or babysitting. I can also ride and tack up horses.

I love running, reading, and vintage things. I find joy in capturing my favourite moments on camera, and filling my journals with collages (I collect beer labels for these)!
