My name is Alex Tomb and I am 21 years old. A few years ago I took a gap year to gain valuable experiences out in the world before I came to college. I spent 3 months traveling Southeast Asia, 2 months doing conservation research in the bush of Madagascar, and 4 weeks doing Workaways in Switzerland and France. In the past couple of years I've worked on a farm in the jungles of Belize, a farm in Kentucky, and a co-op / hippie commune in Northern California! I love kids, animals, being outdoors, eating good food, and living in new cultures. Now I am at Skidmore College in upstate New York where I am on the crew team and I am studying Biology.
I have a lot of experience in child care (infants, toddlers, young kids & teens) and animal care (pigs, ducks, chickens, cows, sheep, goats, dogs, cats), I'm certified in wilderness first aid and lifeguarding, I've worked on livestock and garden farms in Switzerland, France, Belize, Kentucky, and California, I have experience in park maintenance including shoveling, weeding, and some construction, I'm skilled at cement mixing, enthusiastic about getting muddy, English is my first language, I have tutoring experience, and can drive a car. I additionally would be eager to improve my skills in any area!

I love learning new languages wherever I travel.
I am eager to learn from different cultures, would love to be hosted by a family, and am always open to interesting, diverse experiences! I like to push myself to try things that are different or new, as I think that's when the real growth happens, and I love getting my hands dirty.
