Descripción

Hi! We're Zeki and Emma, both from the UK and love to explore wild places. Always active, we met working at an adventure school on the north-west coast of Scotland and are both excited by mountain and coastal environments.

I'm Zeki, and I absolutely love travelling. I consider myself much more at home away from large cities and towns, doesn't matter what I'm doing, I just like being out in nature. I'm based near Edinburgh in Scotland but spend as much time as possible working in more rural areas such as Sutherland (where Emma and I met) and the Cairngorms. I work mostly as an outdoor instructor, coaching climbing, skiing, sailing and kayaking; I'm also a level 5 TEFL teacher, so can help teaching English. Having spent my childhood living in Switzerland and spending summers in Scotland, I learned to appreciate mountain environments for their beauty and the opportunity for excercise they provide. When I'm not doing these things, I go back to my base outside Edinburgh where I help my parents turn our land into a smallholding and volunteer in the nearby community store.

I'm Emma and I'm based between northern Scotland and northern England. I have been training as an outdoor educator and volunteering with conservation charities since finishing my biology degree in 2022. Working towards my qualifications to guide people hillwalking and rock climbing has let me enjoy the mountains around me and made me want to explore further afield. Also a keen painter, I'm often drawing the scenery and people around me and finding inspiration in my travels.

Que habilidades tienes?

Gardening - I enjoy doing anything outside, and at home we try to live at least semi-self-sufficient, meaning most of our fruit and vegetables are home grown, and we keep chickens, sheep and bees. Thanks to this I know a fair bit about growing your own food.
However, I do not have a great eye for style or looks, so keeping a neat and tidy flower garden not really my area of expertise, although I can still do it if given clear instructions.

Cooking - I would not exactly call myself a master chef, but am capable of cooking and definitely enjoy it. I am also always keen to learn new things here.

Other farm jobs - At home we have a constant demand for logs for the fire, so I'm often out collecting and chopping these. There's also always some repairs and extensions needing done to fences, the greenhouse etc, which I have become quite good at designing and building - I am confident using power tools. As for working with animals, I have little experience with any other than chickens, but would love to learn more!

Outdoor activities - I'm a qualified/experienced guide/instructor in several outdoor sports (canoeing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, sailing, skiing), and can drive small powerboats with outboard motors. I'm also First Aid trained.

I am also a level 5 qualified TEFL teacher, and speak two (and a half) languages!

My hobbies mostly include outdoor sports, in particular skiing, sailing, rock climbing and kayaking, but also other activities.

I do like to read too, mostly sci-fi and fantasy. I like trying to world-build in my head, and sometimes write ideas down. They never really go very far though, but I'm still keen to talk about them if you're interested!

I also enjoy both playing and watching cricket, I play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Despite living in the UK I support Australia due to my heritage, and my BBL team are the 6ers.

I can also play the Keyboard and Saxophone to a relatively good level, but don't worry I don't plan on bringing these on my trips, so I won't annoy you with bad music - unless you really want me to!

More recently, I've picked up photography, as my dad gave me his Nikon D300, but I'm just started and don't know much about it yet.
