Hei,
first thank you so much for reading my profile. My name is Til and I'm a 22 year old guy from a small city in the South of Germany close to the border to France. Some other Germans might call us the Gauls of Germany, related to Asterix's story, because of our strong dialect :) Now back to the facts: I finished school in June 2018 with my A-levels and started to travel. At the beginning, I was an AuPair in Tampere for 6,5 months with three boys and really enjoyed this time. After that, in February 2019, I travelled to the high North to work on Huskeyfarms in Inari and Ivalo. Again one of the best experiences I've ever made. I was heading back south again and worked in a summer theater and on an ecological farm in Juva. All through the help of workaway. I was working on a Husky Farm again till mid february. After that i headed towards Canada Beginning of march, just before the pandemic got worse! I was in a lovely hostfamily as an AuPair again, taking care of three kids aged 1,5 (f), 4 (m) and 5,5 (f). In the west I was staying in another amazing hostfamily in Calgary and just adore the mountains! I made my way to BC with my own van and even got to see Vancouver Island. Selling my Van was not easy, but after all I made it back to Finland where I study now in the town I worked in, Tampere! I miss travelling a lot and can't wait to get back to it!

I love to cook and bake. I also love to make handcrafts like knitting and crocheting. Through beeing an AuPair, I'm used to the work at home (vaccuuming, laundry, kitchen) and childcare of course. I am able to play the piano and the guitar. I jumped the trampolin professionally in a sports club in Germany.

I worked on two Huskeyfarms with all together around 260 Alaskan and Siberian Huskeys (dogsitting including feeding, putting harnesses on, joining huskey sleigh rides, pooppicking) and also their horses (Feeding, sleighing, a bit riding, brushing, pooppicking) as well as accompany the customers (showing the farm with a visit in lavuu and prepare them for sleigh tours). It was one of the greatest experiences of my time here in Finland!

People describe me as good to go and very social. It's hard to see me in a bad mood or not smiling :) I love interaction with all kind of people, especially from different ethnical and social background. I travelled already a lot through Finland with the use of Couchsurfing, which brings me even closer to the culture, and enjoyed it a lot. I soak new experinces like a sponge and I love the adventure :) Here in Canada I travelled through Québec and Ontario and ended up in BC after spending another ) months in Alberta as an AuPair again! I love the mountains and nature here! The ocean in waiting for me!

I only spent 2,5 weeks at Lev’s place in Langley and it was way too short! The area is beautiful and Lev is always up for a little roadtrip and shows his surroundings. I worked at this farm from the beginning of April till 22nd of May 2019. I can only relate to the other positive feedbacks. I had a great time in Ivalo and gained so much experience with dogs, rather say sleigh dogs. I mostly worked in the smaller farm in Törmanen (with smaller, I mean the 88 dogs there :)) and helped with some Tours in… read more Kakslauttanen. A bit about the farm from my side:
Törmanen farm is around 8 km outside of Ivalo’s city center, but easy reachable by bike or car (own car, or you can use the farmcar, when you have a driver’s licence). You will have an own room with a shared bathroom, kitchen and living room upstairs. Downstairs you will find a shower and a washingmachine, as well as a drying shelf and a second toilet next to the working kitchen, office and customer room. You will get the working clothes from the farm and you can buy your own food from the next Supermarket in Ivalo from the farm account there (you won’t pay for your food). The farm in Kakslautanen is about 30 min by car towards the South and as I said, there are way more dogs and horses as well. At the tours I helped with preparing the dogs with harnesses for the sleighs, release the sleighs and be there for customer questions and arrival of the sleighs. I could also drive with a snowmobile sometimes, which is way easier to get from A to B there. In both farms the dogs get feeded once daily and the puppies in Törmanen twice a day. In the winter time, they can eat snow, but in summer they get fresh water almost daily. Beginning with the spring, there are no sleightours anymore, so the dogs get a walk with us. Farmvisits are still in summer and there we show the customers all the dogs and invite them after that to have a drink and cookies in one of our “kotas” (the traditional Lappish houses). Furthermore the work consists of pooppicking, fencefixing, dogcaring (the best part of course) and keeping the yard and trails in good condition. The work is not too much, but still it’s work. You get a schedule for the next week always sundays, so you can plan your freetime (a trip to the Northcape and to Stockholm were the things I did). You can always pet especially the puppies whenever you want, if there are some. You will definitely fall in love with all the dogs and Suttunen, the house cat of Törmanen, and miss everyone of them. Also for me, as a amateur with dogs, you will master everything and learn even more about the right handling with these lovely dogs. I can only thank to all the people, who made my time in Ivalo so perfect including Oona, Sergii and Mika. I wish everybody a great time there and lots of good experiences.
