The time is finally ripe for a special challenge 😀
We (Sonja and Angelika) live in Austria, in the beautiful state of Tyrol, in a small village about 15 km from the capital city of Innsbruck. Now that our children are grown, we, as best friends, would like to embark on a shared adventure and explore the world for a few weeks at the beginning of 2026. Ideally, we would like to stay in New Zealand
A few things about Sonja, 57 years old: I have two professions (nurse and pastoral assistant – a job in the Catholic Church) and have four grown children and am married. My particular interest lies with animals (we have our own horses and dogs, and I've been riding since childhood). Music is also very important to me (I play guitar in our family band), and I love being in nature – trees, flowers, and herbs fascinate me. I also enjoy stable work and animal care. Generally, I would say I'm an open-minded, creative, and team-oriented person who isn't afraid of work. I'm taking a break from my job for my Workaway stay. My husband supports me in this idea
A little about Angelika, 63 years old: My two children (twins) are also grown, and I want to fulfill my lifelong dream and broaden my horizons through Workaway. I grew up on a farm and am therefore familiar with agricultural work and handling animals. I am practically minded and love being outdoors. Professionally, I have worked in the hospitality industry and cared for people with disabilities and special needs.
We're both very familiar with household chores. Ideally, we'd like to spend a few weeks on a farm with animals (preferably dogs and horses, but other animals are welcome too) helping with stable and garden work. Helping out around the house is a given for us. However, very strenuous physical labor like chopping wood, driving fence posts, pruning large trees, etc., is probably not feasible for us. We'd also love to meet lots of new people, discover other cultures, improve our English, and simply have a cool adventure 😎 The Auckland/New Zealand region would be perfect. It definitely needs to be somewhere easily accessible from the airport by public transport.
Our minimum stay is one week, but we can also stay in one place for up to six weeks. Earliest arrival date is January 15th, departure date is early March 2026.We would be very happy to find a great opportunity for our stay through Workaway :-) Sonja + Angelika

We would very much like to improve our English, and we can also help with learning/practicing German. I (Sonja) would also like to expand my Swedish skills when the opportunity arises

Algo más...
We're open to everything. We eat meat, but we're also open to vegetarian diets and would love to try new dishes. If there's interest, we can also occasionally cook typical dishes from Tyrol (a region in Austria). We are both very interested in learning something completely new, such as beekeeping, expanding our knowledge of medicinal herbs, wool processing, gardening, and much more. Furthermore, it would of course be very exciting to maintain personal contact with our hosts and immerse ourselves in their stories...
