Hi! My name is Sofia and I am 33 years old, born in Madeira and raised between that island, Porto and London.

I’m on a spiritual path, I’m a nomad, a traveler, I have been since I quit my job in 2022.

I love to read. I’ve come to discover, I absolutely love to read. At the moment I’m reading about the subjects I’m also presently living, as though the scriptures appear to you exactly when they should. Dharma, right?! :) I’m currently reading about subjects like meditation, yoga, mythology, consciousness, philosophy and religion. Slowly finding myself also interested in learning more about physics and chemistry. Planes and dimensions. Alchemy and potions. It’s all so fascinating. I’ve done 500 hours of teacher yoga training courses, I'm self-studying daily and sitting/serving Vipassana courses throughout Asia. The deeper I go, the clearer the knowing: the self that is living all this, is also the Self that is found in the Absolute, in everything, “neti-neti, tat twam asi”. Many times I've come to find its all just a very beautiful cosmic joke.

I worked as an illustrator, textile/fashion designer for many years. I’ve been drawing since I can remember. I love to draw, and naturally to express my creativity through all forms of art. Other interests are: writing, music, dancing and film. I’m really pro-active and sociable, I make connections easily. I’m drawn to exchanging knowledge, wisdom, stories, ultimately sharing in love. I really like being outside in nature, I’m adventurous, a big explorer, a friend of all animals, bugs and insects.

Despite the fact that I’m new to Workaway, I’ve volunteered in many places: Europe, Africa and Asia, from schools, to farms and in hospitality. Throughout the world I’ve surrounded myself with beautiful people, constantly transforming moments into memories, dreams into reality and friends into family. I’m happy in balance, there is not much I seek or long for anymore; surrendering to the essence of nature. I’ve traveled a lot in my life but never like this, never without an end date or having to return to a specific place at a specific time, but here I am :)

I speak English, Portuguese and Spanish. Currently studying Sanskrit and slowly attempting Hindi, as India is where I spend most of my time. I like to participate in group activities and tasks, I love being around people, learning, interacting and being part of a community. I'm a really sociable person. I like being of service, helping in anything that's required. I like creative projects, drawing, painting, organising. I'm an active person too, I like and welcome physical work and I'm motivated, a quick learner.
