Hi! I’m Maria Sofia, a 30-year-old Italian traveler currently exploring Australia after spending 3 months in China studying kung fu and recently completing a 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training.

Before this journey, I worked as a legal headhunter in Milan, after graduating in Law and completing additional studies in sustainability and holistic wellbeing. Alongside my corporate experience, I also trained as a holistic practitioner focused on women’s wellbeing, emotional awareness, and body connection.

I joined Workaway because I want to experience a more meaningful and grounded way of living through cultural exchange, nature, community, and hands-on learning. I’m especially interested in organic farming, animals, sustainability, healing spaces, creative communities, and simple lifestyles connected to nature.

I’m adaptable, practical, curious, and very good with people. I enjoy cooking, art, movement practices, deep conversations, and learning new skills by doing. I also love animals and grew up spending a lot of time close to the sea and outdoors.

In past experiences I’ve worked in hospitality, customer care, a yoga retreat center, and as an au pair in Dublin taking care of four children. I’m happy to help wherever needed and I genuinely enjoy becoming part of the daily life of the places I stay in.

At the moment I’m looking for experiences that feel authentic, human, and enriching — not just places to sleep, but spaces where people share values, stories, and everyday life.

Holistic & Wellness Skills: Certified in Reiki Level 2 and completed a two-year academy in Feminine Ancient Knowledge. Experienced in holistic treatment, reiki treatment, mindfulness, and supporting others’ wellbeing especially women cycle.
Cooking & Baking: Skilled in preparing vegan and gluten-free meals, as well as general home cooking and baking.
Professional & Organizational Skills: Worked in headhunting at W Executive for 2.5 years—strong communication, problem-solving, computer, and organizational abilities.

I love being active and adventurous—skiing, horse riding, golf (I played competitively!), apnea, and scuba diving (open water license). I enjoy creative activities like drawing, painting, and singing, and I’m a big fan of movies and Disney cartoons.

I’m a spiritual researcher and philosopher at heart, always curious about life, mindfulness, and personal growth. I also love playing cards and can teach Scopetta with traditional Neapolitan cards—a fun way to connect!
I enjoy board games, tarot reading, and exploring new cultures.

Traveling, meeting people, and learning new things is my favorite way to grow, and I bring positivity, curiosity, and energy to every household I stay with.
