In English:

We are two friends from Australia who are passionate about the environment and who came to Latin America to see and learn about the natural beauty of this continent and practice our Spanish. We both have degrees in environmental science and share a love of seeing new and different natural environments and meeting people who we can share experiences with. We enjoy experiencing new climates, diverse geography and ecological communities, and how people from these places appreciate and live in these environments. We've travelled here to learn from others and are excited to learn more about sustainable living and new cultures.

Not only are we here for the stunning nature of this continent, but we're also very eager to practice and perfect our Spanish! Ollie is looking to perfect their Spanish, which is already quite good, while Acacia is learning fast. We believe that immersion is the best way to learn/perfect a new language, and so we are very happy to do workaways where English is not spoken (though we don't mind being around English either).

Meeting new people is always a highlight of travelling for us. We love hearing and sharing stories and learning from the people we meet. Communal living and hostels are some of our favourite places to do this, because you get to meet such an array of people from different backgrounds. We have both volunteered in hostels in the past and absolutely love it.

Food is another love of ours. We are always motivated to learn about new ingredients and dishes, and would love to discover new cuisines and recipes from people we meet in our travels. Back home in Australia we are passionate home cooks with lots of recipes to share.

Somos dos amigas de Australia que están apasionadas del medio ambiente y que vinieron a América Latina ver y aprender sobre la belleza natural de este continente y practicar nuestro Español. Ambas tenemos títulos en ciencias de medio ambientales y nos encanta la naturaleza y conocer gente nueva con la que podamos compartir experiencias. Hemos viajado aquí para aprender de otros y estamos emocionadas de aprender más de la vida sostenible y de nuevas culturas.

No solo estamos aquí para ver la naturaleza increíble de este continente, sino también estamos emocionadas de practicar y perfeccionar nuestro español! El español de Ollie ya es bastante bueno (pero quiere mejorar más), y Acacia está aprendiendo muy rápido. Pensamos que la inmersión es la mejor manera para aprender/perfeccionar un idioma nuevo, y así estamos muy feliz de hacer workaways en lugares donde no hay inglés (pero no nos importa si hay ingles).

Conocer la gente nueva siempre es una de las cosas más destacadas viajando para nosotras. Nos encanta escuchar y compartir cuentas y aprender de las personas que conocemos. La vida comunitaria y los hostales son algunas de nuestras lugares favoritas para hacer esta, porque siempre se puede conocer una diversidad de gente. Ambas hemos trabajado como voluntarias en hostales en el pasado y lo disfrutamos mucho.

La comida es otro amor nuestro. Siempre estamos motivados para aprender nuevos ingredientes y platos y nos encantaría descubrir nuevas cocinas y recetas de gente que conocemos en nuestros viajes. En casa, somos cocineras apasionadas con muchas recetas para compartir.

Ollie:
My main motivation is perfecting my Spanish! I came over to Latin America to finish my bachelors degree in Mexico (I studied environmental science and Spanish). Now I want to practice Spanish while travelling and volunteering through Latin America. I am very excited to visit new places, learn about new cultures and meet incredible new people.

I adore learning new things (from environmental knowledge, DIY projects, crafts, cooking, dance styles), as well as exchanging skills and knowledge that I have. Exploring new landscapes and understanding how they form is fascinating for me, as well as learning about new plants and all of their uses. I am excited to learn more about sustainable living practices and all of the environmental projects people are doing around the world, and do what I can to help people with these projects.

My favourite food to cook is Japanese or Thai food, but there are very few things I don't enjoy cooking or eating. Food is always better when shared, and so usually when I cook I'll make enough to share with a lot of people.

When I'm not learning new things or exploring new places, I love being creative, whether that's through dancing with my hula hoop, making jewellery or learning a new craft.

Acacia:
Travelling from the Australian countryside over to see the stunning nature of South America - I am here to learn all I can about sustainability, the environment and ecosystems of this beautiful continent, and am eager to help others build their ideal eco-friendly lifestyles. I want to help on farms, contribute to permaculture lifestyles, and develop off-grid living. I am passionate about meeting people from diverse backgrounds and love helping create fun experiences and events where ever I travel.

I enjoy meeting travellers from around the world and am passionate about organising events and helping create a fun environment for others. I have had a number of past volunteer roles in events management and planning, such as in student housing cooperatives, where I could pursue my passions of meeting lots of people, organising fun events, and even being chef for 80 people every week! I also am very eager to learn and practice my Spanish, which I am learning more and more every day!

I'm from the Australian countryside, and grew up around farming and nature. I studied environmental sciences, ecology, economics and global development with the goal of helping create a more sustainable future for everyone on the planet. I have pursued this passion through work in sustainable agriculture, water management, energy efficiency and in the Australian government environmental department. But right now my heart is telling me to pursue this passion through travelling and workaway!

We are both fluent in English and are interested in teaching it. Ollie (intermediate Spanish) is very interested in perfecting their Spanish and is helping teach Acacia, who has basic Spanish proficiency . Acacia has intermediate skills in French and is able to teach basic French, and learning Spanish is one of their main goals for this trip.

In English:

Ollie:
- Strong Spanish skills (B2/C1) and fluent in English.
- Over 7 years of hospitality experience in Australia and Europe. Through this I have developed strong communication and problem solving skills, such as when addressing and resolving customer requests and complaints. I can also make espresso coffee.
- Working and volunteering in hostels and hotels on reception and as cleaning staff. This required me to build strong connections with guests and generate personalized tourist information such as self walking tours tailored towards each guests preferences. I am comfortable working across language barriers.
- Cooking, whether teaching recipes or cooking for a group.
- Creativity, patience and persistence: I am a jeweller and so patience and persistence are skills I have a lifetime of practice of.
- Hula hooping: I love dancing/doing circus tricks with my hula hoop and I am always happy to teach new tricks to people. I also have a dance background and enjoy performing.
- I have a lot of knowledge about landscapes and how they are formed, and always enjoy when I get to share this knowledge while guiding others through beautiful places.
- Through my work experience, years of travel and living overseas, I have learnt to easily adapt to new situations.

Acacia:
- Experience volunteering in accommodation such as hostels and Student Housing Cooperatives of up to 80 residents. Including experience in events management, coordinating housekeeping such as cleaning and maintenance, head chef, and social coordinator.
- Events management experience, organising band nights, DJ workshops and raves for up to 300 people.
- Past work away experience (as a solo traveller), such as teaching English in Poland.
- 4 years work experience in Sustainable Agriculture, irrigation and water management, energy efficiency, sustainability reporting and project management.
- A Bachelors degree in environmental science and ecology, A Bachelors degree in global development and economics. I also enjoy being able to share this knowledge with others in an accessible way.
- Cooking, as mentioned above in both a professional sense and as a regular hobby.
- English as first language, intermediate French, basic Spanish.
- Gardening and landscaping experience as a hobby.
- Past experience in working in sales and call centres.
- Good outdoor survival knowledge and camping/hiking experience, although there might not be as many dangerous snakes to watch out for here!

- Trabajando y voluntariado en hostales y hoteles como recepcionista y como limpiadora. Creando conexiones fuertes con los huéspedes y generar información turística personalizada como recorridos a pie. Estoy cómoda trabajando con barreras de idioma.
- Cocinar para un grupo o enseñar nuevas recetas.

Acacia

Incluyendo experiencia en gestión de eventos, organización de noches de músico en vivo, talleres de DJ y raves para hasta 300 personas. - Experiencia anterior de workaway (mientras viajaba sola), como enseñando inglés en Polonia.

Ollie:
I love dancing! In Mexico I started learning Salsa and Bachata, and I am excited to learn new skills and styles while I travel.
I have also started learning about food foraging and am excited to learn about more edible or useful plants from around the world.

Acacia:
A big hobby of mine is photography! I travel with a film camera and love being able to capture beautiful moments with my friends or picturesque landscapes. While travelling it has helped me practice being present in new and beautiful environments, allowing me to sit in the image for a long time before waiting for the right moment to take that one photo with film. However I still enjoy other forms of photography like taking 100 photos of the same mountain on my phone!
