    Hello,
My name is Marlène, i'm 42, and last July I decided to take a break from my professional life for a year, to go and meet people who live in collectives and who have decided to put people at the heart of their project. Today, I'm looking for more community life, to recreate a link with people. I grew up in a small village where the bond between neighbors was very strong, with everyone taking care of each other. I remember walking home from school and being invited along the way to snack at each other's homes, both families and the elderly. Every year, the neighbors, with the help of each other, would take it in turns to organize big meal to bring everyone together. It was festive and joyful, with everyone having a role to play. I tell myself that it's still possible to live like that. So now, I'd like to be able to make myself useful and spend some time in collective project, and experience the collective to the full.
I was a school teacher for eleven years, I finished my studies and worked in New Caledonia, and living in a tribe there did me a lot of good, because the links are very strong too. After all these years spent on this beautiful island, I felt the need to discover other cultures, other people. So I set off with my rucksack on a boat-hitch-hiking trip, which took me to the Caribbean islands, where I spent three months sailing between the islands. I learned how to navigate and discovered the role of a crew member on the boats. I then left for Panama, where I met a Frenchman who was looking for a cook for travelers going to Colombia by boat. I spent two months on his boat meeting lots of people, and I discovered part of the life of the Kunas, the San Blas inhabitants. After those two months, I stayed in Colombia, first working as a receptionist in a woofing hotel, then heading off to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta where I met the Arhuacos, a people related to the Koghis. I lived with them and learned about meditation and working on oneself, a truly wonderful encounter that opened the doors of possibility for me. I then continued my journey through Ecuador and Peru, where I worked on a
permaculture farm, then on a horse farm with children, and did a few treks to discover these wonderful landscapes and become even more aware of the beauty of nature. After this year of travel, I moved to Quebec, where I decided to take up a job in education again, as I wanted to discover other teaching methods. After a year living there, and life with COVID, I decided to return to France, where I trained in Montessori pedagogy and nonviolent communication (training in progress), and accepted a position in a Montessori school for two years in La Rochelle, before moving to the Trièves in Isère where I now live. Working with the Montessori pedagogy, which I was already using to some extent when I was in New Caledonia, showed me how important it is to trust children's ability to learn, their autonomy and their curiosity. Today, I adapt to each child's needs and pace, using not just one teaching method, but several, because each child has his or her own way of learning and grasping knowledge. For the time being, I'd like to take a break in my professional life, and use this year to continue my professional training, but also, as I said earlier, to discover and immerse myself in group life, and see if I could take part in this kind of project in the future.
I love to learn and like to be of service, so I'd be happy to help you with whatever you need and in whatever field.
I speak English and a little Spanish (I lack practice for Spanish, but I'd like to be able to progress to be more comfortable in this language).
I've been passionate about improvisational theater for many years. I've given classes to both children and adults.
Since my grandmother left me her sewing machine, I've really enjoyed this activity,
which I'm learning to do on my own.
And for my own personal enjoyment, I also play the ukulele a little, at beginner level.
At home, I have a vegetable garden which I look after even if I don't have much knowledge in
this area, I do my best to look after everything that grows there (with occasional failures!).
