Hello everyone, I'm Bibi!

I'm really happy to be here, with the time and energy to dedicate to projects and communities working to make the planet a better place — before starting a new job path in January.

I'm 25 years old and I grew up in Palermo, Sicily, in a big countryside house where my family raised me surrounded by nature and animals: dogs, cats, parrots, turtles, and chickens. My siblings and I have always taken care of the garden (pruning, watering, collecting firewood) and the animals (feeding, cleaning, and cuddles).

Last summer I had a previous experience with Workaway. Together with my travel partner, Luico, we spent two amazing weeks working and traveling in northern Spain. We met two wonderful hosts who lived a rural lifestyle with a strong awareness of the climate crisis.
We helped them restore and clean up the area they lived in to support a more sustainable, zero-waste life. We cleared a field overrun with weeds, sheared sheep, harvested medicinal herbs, and helped take care of the house. We also hitchhiked to visit small towns and met some lovely locals who toasted with us over a cerveza.

Last September, I also joined a big group of friends for the grape harvest in France. We drove all the way from Italy in an old, beat-up Fiat that broke down at every mountain bend.
There, I learned to use new tools: cutting grape bunches, carefully cleaning equipment sticky with grape juice, driving trucks through the vineyards, and cooking dinner for thirty people — all while listening almost non-stop to French rap.

Now I keep having the desire to help sustainable communities,
roll up my sleeves and learn more about how to farm the land.
