Hi! I'm Lauren from NZ/England. I love nature and the outdoors, exercising and staying active, in particular yoga, hiking, and even a bit of boxing training! I am an enthusiastic hard worker that fits in well in most environments, even when thrown into totally unfamiliar situations. I love learning about other cultures, trying the foods, meeting new people, hearing stories, exchanging stories and anecdotes.
A bit more about me:
I was born in England, moved to New Zealand when I was 6 where I spent most of my life, and since I've lived in Chicago, Seattle, Toronto and Exeter in England. I have traveled Europe and the USA before, and now I'm looking to have an extended stay in a beautiful outdoors setting, and I'm looking for any sort of fun or fulfilling work to keep my busy while I'm away! I have had pretty much every job in the food and beverage service industry, barista, waitress, bartender, chef, my favourite is making coffee but I'm very flexible and experienced in this field. My interests include fitness, yoga, I love the movies, nature, photography, I love sunshine and being warm, and of course meeting new people and learning about their lives and experiences! I am also a confident tutor and could help with learning English, or other written and spoken tasks.

Lauren is a very hard worker and has a lot of initiative. She found projects to do that were important (even without me asking). She willingly helped me clean my basement which involved carrying heavy boxes up to the garden, cleaning cobwebby windows, and organizing all the items that were important to keep. We absolutely loved our time at The Tree House with Sanna and Ellis (and Sasha). They were kind, welcoming, funny, open, and Ellis made a real effort to teach us about the tasks we were doing, why we did it, what’s the best practice etc, so we never felt like ‘just workers’, it was a real exchange in the spirit of workaway. We enjoyed our stay in Nelson with Elspeth. The work was in the garden, mostly weeding but a few other odd jobs. We started at 8am and worked for five hours. The accommodation is very comfortable, we had our own little caravan to sleep, and a separate kitchen, bathroom and living area. Everything you could hope for in a workaway experience.
