Hi everyone 😊
We’re Jenny and Dan, a couple from the sunny sea side of Brighton in England. Dan is originally from Cardiff - Wales and Jenny London - England. We’re starting our open-ended trip in Thailand from October 2024 and Jenny has been travelling since January.
Dan was a park ranger working on Lowland Heath, a habitat rarer than rainforest, and Jenny was a programme manager working in healthcare, with charities and local government.
We’re looking to work with different types of people and are open to new challenges. We hope to learn from you and your culture and share our skills and experiences. We want to experience different ways of life and build positive change in communities.
What we’re particularly interested in:
- Physical work such as building, farming, permaculture, painting murals
- Working with charities and local communities.
- Places where Jenny can teach yoga.
- Staying in nature – we’re good with basic conditions and like the outdoors.
- Helping with projects – creating documents, marketing materials in English, evaluation, data analysis.
- Conservation work - practical and desk based
A bit more about our background:
Dan:
My work experience has zig zagged across a number of sectors. Most recently I’ve worked on engagement and mitigation projects where the goal was to engage with local people and educate them about the landscape they live in to better protect it. I also run all of our monitoring efforts, which help my team plan how to allocate our time and effort best.
Previously I’ve been an ecological surveyor, monitoring populations of protected species such as newt, badger and bat. I’ve worked as a mapping specialist producing maps for large projects and have worked in multiple public facing jobs where I honed my friendly demeanour.
I’ve also got a passion for community projects and have volunteered with a number of conservation efforts, health projects and community farming groups.
I have a passion for nature and music and photography and love to share these where I can
Jenny:
Back in the UK, I had experience of running large scale projects to tackle inequality, including working with different communities to co-produce meaningful change. I worked with doctors, policy makers, researchers, charities, local government, local people and more. My passion is bringing people around a common goal and helping them to achieve this. I also have a background in mental health and coaching, data analysis, research and evaluation, running events, and management - let me know if these skills can support you!
I am also a qualified yoga teacher, focusing on traditional hatha and yin and can run some simple meditations or pranayama sessions.
My favourite hobby is painting, and I have created murals whilst travelling, you can see some of my work on our profile or Instagram: @jenpaintingwallsIntereses

Jenny:
Through my work I have developed skills in project management, data analysis, facilitating groups, meetings, helping problem solving, coaching people.
This means I am very organised and can help create stories from information and data. I have always tried to carry out voluntary work alongside jobs, including food delivery volunteer to people in need and mentoring young people, running operations at festivals. I am comfortable adapting to new environments, listening to what is needed and responding to that proactively.
I am a physically active person and am happy to do work as required that includes manual lifting or exercise. Willing to get my hands dirty!
I recently qualified as a yoga teacher too, so would love to offer classes.
I am also a keen cyclist so I can help transport things around by bike. My favourite hobbies are arty or involve the outdoors. I like camping and hiking and want to do more of this whilst travelling.
I paint and draw regularly, so would love the opportunity to do some creative work such as decorating or creating a mural.
I worked in a supermarket for 3 years on food service counters so I have an understanding of food safety and hygiene and can work with different types of people or customers.
Dan:
I am an excellent communicator and have a passion for sharing knowledge with people whether that is on guided tours or in a more formal setting like a classroom. Previously, I have run education sessions on conservation and ecology, permaculture and running an allotment, administering first aid and using mapping technology. My audiences have varied in age from adult to school children and I have thoroughly enjoyed learning new topics to share them with an audience.
I am physically fit and love to get involved with practical projects. My work will regularly require me to build fences or clear patches of land with hand tools. I have previously run a community allotment where we would grow our produce. As well as farming, I would lead any construction and landscaping projects such as building sheds, ponds, pathways and communal areas. I am also trained to drive off-road vehicles and have an international driving licence.
I have good IT skills and regularly put these to use in order to process and analyse data. I regularly write reports at work which are presented to our funders to update them on project progress. In these reports I am regularly required to present new data in the most accessible way, so any audience can clearly understand the impact we are making.
I have a passion for music and love DJing. So far, I’ve played multiple weddings and a couple of venues. Sharing music with crowds of people can be a huge source of joy and I hope to continue this on my travels.Edad
