Hello dear future host!

I am a Dutch pensionado who worked as a language teacher and later on as a journalist on foreign affairs and on subjects regarding sustainability, Though retired, I still work occasionally as an editor. Also I have done and still do voluntary jobs in my hometown Amsterdam.
Having more time and with one grown-up son, I still would like to do some useful work abroad, like helping with gardening, harvesting and other things around house and garden. Also, being someone who speaks (and writes) English fluently and is a TEFL-certified teacher, I like to help children or students with learning the English language.

Via Workaway I worked as an assistant English teacher in Casablanca and Fes, Morocco, stayed with a family in Iran to speak English with their bright young daughter. I worked in farms and gardens in Scotland, Spain and Italy. Also followed Arabic courses in Oman; learning Arabic is a hobby of mine, next to singing in choirs (both baroque and pop).

Furthermore I'm a social and responsible person, flexible in working hours. Enjoy being among people, but don't have to be entertained. Last but not least, being an elderly lady I can say that I am in excellent condition (I'm still a runner, play tennis) and have enough (life) experience (I like to think ;-) and energy to offer a helping hand in learning English, gardening, household.
I'm interested in meeting people, in cooking, music, reading books.

Interested in cultures from all over the world and in telling about Dutch culture.
Love to cook good and healthy food, love to be in nature. Eat mostly vegetarian, but sometimes I treat my friends and myself on a good chicken from the oven ;-). Non smoker. I like working in my own city garden and have some knowledge of plants.
